Microsoft’s range of ‘Bing’ apps on WP and Windows 8 will be rebranded to MSN apps. MSN – the retired messenger service, will now be the new name for the MS apps.

These MSN apps will also make their way onto Android and iOS. What about the search engine name? That seems to be staying the same. It’s just that the MSN apps will be powered by bing. Perhaps as a way to keep the MSN name in use?

Does this change make sense to you?

I use a few Bing apps on the 1520. Bing News in particular keeps me up to date with headlines (as a tile and as breaking news notifications).

My only BING related gripes is that whilst the site functions quite well, Cortana with bing searches is slow, and it’s useless on slow connections.
