HERE Auto are growing from simply being a map provider to an over all service provider. HERE shows the power of the embedded connected system and taking this experience several steps forward.

They’re making use of multi-displays as manufacturers are putting in more and larger displays in cars. There’s subtle changes such as having some navigation info behind the steering wheel where a driver may be glancing frequently. Should the user be low on fuel, it could indicate the next stop off points to get gas (or likely electricity if you have an electric car).

Passengers can bring their own screen to interact with the system. E.G. letting a passenger see what’s around them or upcoming on their route. HERE have companion apps to do this for iOS/Android. The driver can even accept suggestions to have their route recalculated for the detour (useful perhaps in family scenarios or in a taxi…could equally be annoying if your kids/other relatives keep trying to make you stop off somewhere. This feature can be turned off/ignore the passenger suggestion).
