NOKIA’s Z-Launcher is available in Beta to download from Google’s Playstore.

However, if you’re outside the US or EU, for now, you’ll need to use the direct download option.

It’s had a good reception from the reviewers and so far, there’s a good (but not ace) feedback from the beta testers with 3.7/5.

Jonny Bakes gave it a 5 star and said:

A1 IN ALL RESPECTS Clean, fast, easy to find the apps I want. Someone must be kicking themselves they didn’t come up with this first. No need for folders, gimmicks, trendy swipes and fancy stuff. Looks elegant and works like a dream. Used on Sony Z1 and galaxy note pro 12.2

Christopher Gonzalez gave it a 4 star but has some suggestions on where to improve:

This is awesome and simple to use. I just wish it was easier to change wallpapers and you could ad your own widgets in the top area where the time and weather is. Other than that I can’t wait to see this build up and get more features!

Atomu Wakamatsu is a fan of the interface but has experienced some bugs (3 stars)

Really good but it still is buggy There is obvious lag in places such as scrolling and overall aesthetics of it is good but interface is laggy. I like it a lot I like the simple look and it’s very easy to use but Please fix the bugs and I will give it a 5

Travis Dobynes thinks it’s ok on a tablet but sees there’s work to do. Well it started life on the phone right?

Meh… It might be ok on a tablet….I think they have a lot of work to do

Darwin Ender seems to have had problems (1 star)

No support for rooted phones really? worst app ever

So it’s a very promising start with Z-launcher. It wouldn’t have received such praises such as:

“Nokia just made the smartest Android launcher around” – Slashgear
“Wonderfully simple and shockingly innovative” – BGR

But there’s plenty of room for improvement. The idea’s great, the concept is wonderful, but it needs further thought and streamlining of execution.
