Screen Shot 2015-01-21 at 18.25.14Today, Microsoft announced their changes for WindowsPhone. In summary? I thought they did a great job! I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect. The jaded side of me wasn’t expecting a lot even though my mind knew that Microsoft had a lot to prove.

I think they’ve done that.

There’s a lot of new things but built on a ground of familiarity. It feels and looks more refined but with a lot more capabilities.

It seems a lot of the features we asked for – they’re finally there. Yes, some should have been there from the beginning, but we could say that about other platforms too (which have their own plusses as well as annoyances also). Better browsing, better home experience, better gallery, better calendar, better office all coming together to make the platform even stronger.

Yes, there are still a few things that I’d like to see. I’ll have to review the whole feature set to see what’s been missed out. But at the moment, these things together make me excited to use Windows 10 on my Nokia Lumia 1520. This is just the windows on phone side! There’s a lot of cool stuff on the PC and Xbox that really glue together the ecosystem.
