German Car Makers still fighting over Nokia’s HERE Maps

Here DriveNokia’s been in talks again with BMW, Daimler (Mercedes) and Volkswagen over HERE Maps. HERE of course is the leading mapping provider amongst in car navigation systems, and what with self driving cars and more intuitive location based services being offered by rivals, having a crowning asset (OR  at least preventing it going to your competitors) such as Nokia’s HERE in what could be a new $50 billion market, is definitely something to fight over.

Nokia paid $8 Billion for Navteq, and despite all the improvements, HERE itself is being estimated between $2 and $4 Billion. Nokia’s still not in any rush to sell HERE and may continue with strategic reviews that may or may not result in the sale of HERE.
