Microsoft to deliver monthly direct to user updates for the Lumia 950, bypassing At&t certification

Update COgs

In an attempt to get Windows 10 builds out to customers as soon as they’re available, Microsoft have been able to by-pass At&t’s notorious “carrier certification” which often delays updates for weeks and months on end (sometimes indefinitely). Instead it appears Microsoft will be delivering monthly software updates directly to consumer’s phones through a new service called “Windows as a Service”.

The new updates should be delivered on a monthly schedule to Lumia 950 users, keeping their Windows 10 mobile build up to date with the latest support and stability fixes. Hopefully Microsoft and other OEM’s will be able to replicate this sort of set-up on all carriers for all phones.
