screen-shot-2016-11-20-at-18-44-06TechCrunch has a touching post about a group that reminisces about Nokia from the eyes of those that used to work there.

A facebook group was set up so that Nokians could stay in touch, in anticipation for the results of further ‘restructuring’. The closed group initially had around 900 members in the first 5 years but in a few days when the group asked to invite old members, the group exploded in size!

The group has over 21,000 members!

There’s just something special about Nokia as a company and the Nokia employees.

“I’ve never seen such a large group of people adoring a company. It’s remarkable. All these tens of thousands of people lost their jobs and instead of hating the company, actually admiring the company”, Sotiris Makrygiannis (Nokian heavily involved in Maemo/MeeGo)

Group Admin/co-founder, Verena Rentrop:

Connecting People. ”It was not just a marketing phrase..for many members Nokia became a family”.

You could definitely feel this sense of family amongst those that work at Nokia.

The group of course reminisces about the devices, references to old inside jokes, actual love stories about employees that crossed borders, resulting in marriage and even children!

There’s also a Nokia site called Nokia People, aimed to connect ex Nokians

Whilst many have moved on, these folks will always have that Nokia history. Nokia is the company of transfomation.

Who knows, some of these people might see themselves back with Old Nokia or at least, getting to use Nokia products again in some form.
