Nokia PureView powered Targeted DNA sequencing in Nature publication #Nokia #Lumia #1020

As seen on the BBC, a paper published on the journal, “Nature” uses a Nokia Lumia 1020 to permit on site targeted DNA sequencing and in situ mutation analysis. It can lead to improved precision in cancer treatment and infectious diseases. Usual techniques usually require an offsite lab and sequencing centres.  The Nokia Lumia 1020 sort of simulates this lab. A paper back in 2014 already notes phones matching high-end pathology microscopes in terms of spatial resolution AND image quality.

I sometimes use my phone at work to take Microscopy snaps for any interesting slides – just gently hover the camera over the eyepiece :p. It’s also useful for confirming findings with the senior or showing interesting slides at teaching sessions.

Cheers Alvester  for the tip!
