Nokia Siemens Networks Demonstrates 200 Mbps HSPA+
I don’t know if this means anything to you but Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN – the infrastructure folks) used “commercial Flexi Multiradio Base Station and Multicontroller platform” to demonstrate 200mbps HSPA+. 200mbps – incredible! I’m back home for a bit and the broadband here is so slow I can’t view 720p videos :S
Other cool things NSN showed at CTIA:
- 10gbps Flexi Multi Radio and Flexi Lite Base stations
- Smart WLAN and LTE-Advanced carrier aggregation.
- Liquid Radio Architecture: Encompases Practical solutions targeting carriers looking to increase monetization and improve network services
- Cloud powered serices – telco asset marketplace for charging and billing capabilities.
In the US, NSN provides T-Mobile USA with equipment, including standardization for HSPA+. But as you know, T-Mobile USA is being eaten up by AT&T – whose largest infrastructure provider consist of Ericsson and Alcatel-Lucent. According to “analysts”, NSN have the most to lose from the AT&T purchase of T-Mob USA.
NSN spins this as an opportunity:
We believe we have a significant opportunity to help American operators deal with the unique demands of smartphones and tablets. This deal does not diminish that belief
