How to: Fixing Qt Smart Installer Error

This is just a quick post and more of a suggestion than a difinitive fix. I’m sure if there are other solutions they’ll feed through in the comments and we will update this post accordingly.

Some of us (as I keep finding in comments), myself included, have had some issues installing Qt apps. Mine started with Tree Maker and the smart installer that was never smart. Since then I had not been able to install Qt apps until about a couple of weeks ago.

This is what worked for me. This might work for  you, or you might need some other work arounds.

  1. Go to the App Manager. Settings>Installed files>Application manager.
  2. Uninstall Smart Installer
  3. Uninstall Qt Beta Labs app. Suggest uninstalling Bubbles first.
  4. Try reinstalling something from Ovi Store again that has Qt. I suggest perhaps Nokia Wellness Diary.
We’ll update with more suggestions as we see them.
Thanks to Twitter folk and MNB commenters for the suggestions. Some tips might have worked but I felt some were a little too convoluted and complicated for my liking.
Update: A site worth checking is aptly named “http://fixqt.com/” – Cheers Deaconclgi
