Gizmodo – Nokia Lumia 800, “This. I would rather have this than an iPhone”
A very interesting article by renowned Nokia non-enthusiasts Gizmodo on the Nokia 800. Now remember before, although they ridiculed N8 and disliked it to the point of not even bothering to review, they did like the N9 hardware a lot. They also liked Windows Phone, calling it to be better than Android for them.
On their article about the Nokia Lumia 800, the Nokia Windows Phone, they stress the point of things not being all about specs – such as the dual core processor, saying the gains are marginal compared to the frustration you’d get from reduced battery life. And quite nicely of GiZ, they note that long battery life was one of Nokia’s endrearing qualities. Screen was apparently noticably better than the focus (well compared to Omnia 7, just dwitch both devices on full brightness. The clear black is divine. It blurs where the screen ends and plain glass begins.
According to our hands on, the camera sparkles, the phone feels great in hand and pocket alike. It’s enjoyable to have and to use. All the intangibles seem, at least at first blush, pretty darn wonderful
They do mention that performance also surpasses the specs (here is when you can say you don’t need those additional things that are becoming standard
They think WP is great, but also noting the importance of hardware, being happy that he can finally say:
