GSM Arena shows more love for the Nokia N9, wants its innovations to live on in other phones
It’s hard not to like the Nokia N9. GSM Arena were and are amongst the many sites that adored the N9, and recently they published another piece talking about the things the N9 does that they want to see live on else where too. I agree with their statement completely.
http://blog.gsmarena.com/7-things-i-love-about-the-n9-that-i-want-to-see-elsewhere-too-editorial/
The 7 things are:
1) Always on Clock
2) Double tap to wake
3) Analogue clock interface for setting alarm
4) Amazing touch haptics
5) Scrolling your contacts
6) Unified message inbox
7) Autogenerated album art in music player
Yes, yes and more yes. I’m surprised no one else is doing the always on clock that we first saw on the N8 and subsequently other Symbian phones with AMOLED. It is an amazing feature. Never needing to touch the phone to check the time, just glance at it. Any battery effects are absolutely negligible. Nokia even stepped up with sleep screen to personalise the image but I think simple is the best.
I hope it’s patented. The moment iPhone goes AMOLED, you just know they’ll do always on clocks. And if iPhone will do it, you know Samsung Galaxy S(notaniPhone)III is going to have it too. Also loving the haptic feedback of the keyboard. I’d like to see the accuracy of WP keyboard+its incredible autocorrection with the N9 haptic feedback.
Cheers for the tip, DM!
