Nokia Lumia 800 in top 10 for February UK sales?

Mobiletoday (via WMPU) reports that according to uSwitch, their top 10 best selling handsets in the UK has a Nokia in it. The Nokia Lumia 800 has apparently climbed up 6 places to number 8 (apparently being ‘back’ in the top 10 – I don’t recall the first time).

I’m not sure what their criteria for producing the top 10 were, Mobiletoday mentions, it “is based on internet searches and sales”. I’d take this merely as an indicator of possible improved sales in the UK without fully knowing how the list was compiled.

uSwitch’s top 10 for February

1. Samsung Galaxy S II (no change)

2. Apple iPhone 4S 16GB (no change)

3. Samsung Galaxy Ace (Up one place)

4. HTC Wildfire S (Down one place)

5. Apple iPhone 3GS 8GB (New entry)

6. Apple iPhone 4 16GB (No change)

7. Sony Ericsson Arc S (No change)

8. Nokia Lumia 800 (Up six places)

9. Samsung Galaxy Note (Up seven places)

10. HTC Desire S (Up two places)

The other contenders are not surprising – these are also some amazing smartphones to be in the list with.  If it was just those devices, I’d not be surprised. I do pretty much see plenty of iPhones, Galaxy S2 and Wildfires everywhere. I’m surprised a blackberry isn’t on the list as they’re pretty much everywhere too, as uniquitous as iPhone (though perhaps they have more models and so sales are more spread out?).

‘Nokia’s Lumia 800 climbing back up the chart is not entirely surprising. Strong continued advertising and the arrival of the Lumia 710 at the beginning of February has stoked interest in both the brand and Windows Phone. The Lumia 800’s re-entry shows that consumers are receptive to the Windows Phone platform as a slick smartphone alternative, not to mention more aggressive pricing from networks, with the handset available for free from just £20 per month
