NokConv discusses the colours and materials used for the Nokia Lumia 1020.

http://conversations.nokia.com/2013/07/22/zoom-into-the-colours-and-materials-of-the-nokia-lumia-1020/

Key points:

  • Matte finish chosen over gloss, for the quality and feel that it offers
  • Top coat has an anti fingerprint finish as well as being dirt resistant. Good news for those who might want the white.
  • Proud to be polycarbonate – despite the use of Metal in the 925 (it also has a mix of polycarbonate at the back).
  • “We are a leader in premium polycarbonate execution and the Nokia Lumia 1020 is continuing that success and the character that we have established since the Nokia N9”
  • The colour is an inherent part of Nokia’s polycarbonate – it’s not merely a paint coating, it runs all the way through. So if you scratch or dent it, all you will see is the same colour. I find that this works even better on a Matte finish because gloss shows up fine scratches more.
  • The camera portion turns out to be Aluminium. Neither plastic nor ceramic. This was chosen because of its ‘durability’.
  • Corning Gorilla Glass 3 screen
  • The keys on the side are also aluminium.
  • “The overall feel is that the Lumia 1020 is comfortable and luxurious to hold in your hand. However, it’s also designed to be tough and resistant to everyday use and abuse
