Qualcomm 805 CES preview demoes
Here are some Qualcomm 805 demoes, the latest version of Qualcomm’s powerhouse chip.
This one show’s OptiZoom. It reminds me of the facial recognition feature of Logitech webcams, whereby it zooms into the faces on the fly. If you move out, it moves out. I think the Kinect 2 with Skype does this too.
Here, you can do this with objects. You tap the object and as it moves around, the viewfinder will zoom accordingly.
Now onto something called Chroma Flash. I think the Fuji Z30 had this feature (and was one of the reasons I wanted to update my Fuji Z10 to back in the day). It allows you to take two pictures, one with flash and one without flash on quick succession. This eliminates the decision of taking a picture with or without flash to see which would look better.
But it does something a little different in that you end up with one picture because it combines the two so you get the sharpness with flash but the natural colours. Well more natural.

Finally processor action shot demo. This one can track an object and set exposure to that object. Another feature lets you set a line on the screen and once the object passes that line, it begins filming.
This and even more computational imaging should be seen in the 1020’s camera successor. Moreover, there should be faster processing of all those billion pixels that 41MP sensor is handling.
Cheers Alvester for the tip!
