Got woken up an hour earlier than I expected by someone else’s alarm so I thought I’d do something productive and record a video of a really useful tip in action that I read from Reddit user soul_justice.

One of my favourite shortcuts when browsing a desktop browser is to search a highlighted term. No need to type it in the URL bar.

I didn’t know you could do that on Windows Phone. Tap to highlight something in I.E. and then press the bing search button. It’ll search it for you. How neat is that?

Buuuut…it only works in I.E. and if you set BING as your default search provider (as opposed to Google). So you’ll have to weigh up pros/cons when searching with BING versus Google. I might actually leave it for a week or so using BING again. There are the upsides of having that panoramic bing search. I just wish it wasn’t just the black background option (ie. on mobile site looks a whole lot better).

This is demoed on the 1520, filmed by the 1020.
