Nokia Codenames Cityman and Talkman – Flagship Lumias later this year, Triple LED, QHD

The Nokia D&S team inside Microsoft might not have any Nokia branding anywhere anymore, but the spirit of Nokia is still there with both the people that work there and it seems the codenames.

Two upcoming flagships, Nokia Cityman and Nokia Talkman are in the works ! I’ve still got my Nokia Cityman case from Connects (it was to fit the Nokia N97 😛 ah, found a picture above!).

CJ has the specs on these two devices:

CityMan:

• 5.7″ QHD display. Finally escapes the 1080p screens though I think the 1080p screen on the 1520 is more than enough. I can’t really appreciate all them pixels on my Note.
• 3GB RAM
• Qualcomm Octacore
• 32GB internal, MicroSD
• 20MP Rear
• 3300mah REMOVABLE battery
• Triple LED flash – each LED adjusting for tone.

Talkman

• 5.2″ QHD
• 6 core processor
• 3GB RAM
• 32GB internal, MicroSD
• 20MP
• 3000mAh removable
• Slimmer than 930
• Triple LED Flash

The new thing for me here is Triple LED. It’s gonna try some of the true-tone LED that we saw in iPhone when they finally caught up to dual LED, they did something a bit extra. Hopefully there’s more improvement in the camera. No 41MP successor yet or even a xenon flash phone. Hopefully the combined triple flash is brighter which means edging ever so closer to low light freezing (as we can get faster shutter speeds) or at least less blurring.

I think it’s great to have a 5.2″ variant – more mass market and a larger screen option that may still not be that overly large. Having said that, I like the bigger screen and appreciate the 0.3″ difference between 1520 and Note 4.

Removable battery is nice to have on the flagship Lumia. As would be MicroSD (present in 1520, not in 930).

Octacore – not really too fussed on processors anymore myself. I’ve never really felt the frustration of lag on WP – the 1520 feels really fast with the combo of Windows and quadcore. It’ll just be nice to see certain processor hungry apps get even quicker (video processing) and be a match for graphics intensive gaming.
