Video: G4 – Attack of the Show's 'Review' of the Nokia N900 [RANT: My rage meter is high!]

Advertisements Here’s a somewhat scathing review of the N900 from the Attack of The Show peeps. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yC_nIdZR5p8] Unlike previous reviews which actually REVIEWED the handset (i.e. actually spent more than 5 minutes on it), previous reviewers found the N900 to always be too big, the resistive screen to be a disappointment (instead of the feather […]

Nokia RANT: Response to Ovum's "Report" on Nokia's 'failures'.

Hmm, I doubt anyone will read this but I couldn’t sleep (trying to finish off some presentations…meh, they want us to use OHP :[) and seeing these “reports” circulated got me kinda worked up. I haven’t made a proper Nokia rant in a while. Nokia’s been churning a lot of awesome sauce since N900 (Free […]

Some supposed Symbian^4 screenshots. For me, the font change makes a world of difference. I think it’s “Arial” which looks much more appealing (fresh/new?) than the standard “Nokia Sans”. [Update from Symbian – it’s Veranda :)] Font change! The screenshots are still 640×360 – hopefully Symbian^4 handsets will increase further in resolution? It’s hard going […]

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFM1qOwwIGo] I don’t know what on earth the reviewer speaks of when she says the 5800 was not the hit Nokia were expecting. I remember that around March/April, Nokia expected to sell 1 million 5800 but exceeded that and sold 3 million (actually already reached 1 million in January). Sales wise, the 5800 is one […]

Trusted Review's Video Review of the Nokia N900 – 9/10 performance…but…

| January 30, 2010 | 2 Replies

Back in December, Trusted Reviews published their review of the N900. There were some concerns with the review (commissioned, no live photos at the time) after apparently seeming to be no more than a preview (it was a commisioned review, originally  without any pictures), not fit for a gadget oriented site. Over a month later, […]

Yesterday we asked which was (or would be, since iPad is not available) the most productive device for you iPad N900/Smartphone Booklet 3G/Netbook Laptop The results after one day so far: [Apologies, this oddly became longer than expected. The post was originally just the above. Yes it’s not available yet, but this is just a […]

Not really a Nokia post, but an intriguing watch nonetheless. Basically how a modern mobile OS should feel and how the UI should look. Nokia touch phones are often more functional [aka plain/boring] when it comes to the UI. Only recently with the N900 have Nokia users experienced eye candy UI out of the box. […]

The N900 is a great phone, but it is (as Nokia themselves have more or less said) a work in progress. I’ll say it again, it’s step 4 of 5 to Maemo glory. Software evolution to one side (see firmware update wishlist for N900),  understandably, this early adopter product isn’t physically “perfect” for mass market. I.E. […]

We all know that the N900 is a work in progress. Nokia famously proclaimed the N900 to only be “step 4” of a 5 step route to Maemo glory and smartphone perfection. Well words to that effect anyway. Hardware wise -I won’t go into this too heavily though there are three main aspects that resonate […]
