Nokia All In One Torch!

(Camera cap is covering led slightly, plus this N93 is dimmer than my other one – but you get the jist)

Most N93 users will tell you that the one-touch-torch button is extremely useful for tasks beyond the simple video light/flash it was intended for. My N93 is my torch, albeit, not comparable to dedicated versions, but super handy since it’s always there with me73 (I have no idea where my Maglite and the battery is most likely dead)

There were applications previously available to S60 that allowed the flash to be used as a torch. I remember installing Ntorch for my N73, but that was convincingly feeble in that it didn’t use the relatively more powerful flash of the N73 (than the N93) but the subdued, frankly, not so useful video light level.

The “Nokia All in One Torch” is a new application for your S60 device (with flash) that may change all that.

I haven’t tried this out yet, but the features blurb from series-sixty blog sounds very appealing.

  • – An Actual First-of-its-kind Strobe Light
  • – High Intensity LED Illumination
  • – Current Status Notification (via pop-up interface)
  • – Instantaneous Launch
  • – One-Tap Exit (via right softkey)
  • – Compatibility with MOST S60 3rd Edition Devices (N73, N80, N95 and more)

Since I’m reading several blog warnings about the possibility of wearing out the LED, I’m assuming this application utilises full brightness of the flash, or at least close to that. If the LED isn’t so bright, i.e. N93 vs N95, then that’s the max brightness you should expect.
