Video: Nokia N97 Drop Test

This is the next instalment of N97geek’s physical testing of the N97. Now it’s the drop test, where the poor N97 enjoys Newton’s gravity over different surfaces:

  • Grass
  • Gravel
  • Concrete

With so much inside that could have gone wrong, Paul reports that the N97 held up brilliantly, the screen did not crack or scratch receiving only superficial damage, with a couple of scratches and scuffs around the bezel and lens cover from the harder surfaces of gravel and concrete. The camera glass apparently did get a fine crack in it though.

Good news for N97 users. It’a a definite inevitability that I will drop any of my phones, and all the Nokia ones have been surprisingly really sturdy in terms of remaining tip-top functionally inside (though they do have battle scars). A couple of friends of mine who were iPhone users are still waiting for their phone to come back from repair after their glass screen cracked from a short waist height fall.
