HD Video: New Official video sample from the Nokia N8 – Skateboards and Helsinki HookUp
Here’s an official video sample clip from the 720p HD capturing Nokia N8. Using three Nokia N8s, clips were taken at Helsinki HookUp 2010 & Pro Skate, and skate Finnish championship. Clips were then compiled offline.
Be sure to press 720p and make sure your device can play the clip properly (some netbooks have problems, obviously on phones the resolution doesn’t show up). Being at a skate park, there’s a lot of action and movement going on and the videos seem very fluid. I did notice some blurry/off colours at particular clips, something I get when the lens is dirty/fogged up. Hmm.
Would have been awesome to have been done with one, and edited later on the N8. It doesn’t really matter if they have to use steady cam rigs (consumer ones, necessary for practically all dedicated digicams and video cams for those super smooth and steady shots). This would really make the fact that it’s on a pocketable device invisible.
Now, hopefully Nokia make an assault with the HD video and high end Point-and-shoot rivalling camera. Please, I hope they have adverts lined up that are entirely shot and edited on the N8. Great video editing makes a big difference.

You’ve got to be kidding me. This video quality is insane. I thought the previous clips were nice….but DAMN. They must have really tweaked the firmware like crazy. I’m sure the ample lighting didn’t hurt, as well. My only gripe is that I wish they had 30 FPS for video, especially since the Broadcom GPU supports it.
N8 HD quality beats all the camera phones in the street hundreds of miles even with an early firmware according to GLBenchmark 1.1 tests. This is the N8 strong selling points.

It seems they have removed the test results for N8. N8 results can be even much better with a final firmware.
It is said that N8 has received considerably many preorder from operators. It is said it is 10k/wk in UK alone…
The positive sign is Nokia originally planed Solo factory in Finland which has over 2000 workers temporary layoff this autumn but Nokia recently cancelled it.
