HD Video: Preproduction Nokia E7 Sample Video (Full Focus 720p)

| September 21, 2010 | Reply

The E7 sports a full focus camera meaning beyond a certain point, everything is in focus. This means that taking photos is pretty much instant as you do away with the time taken to auto-focus. However, this does mean you cannot take macro/close up pictures/videos.

The E7 here is preproduction and was not really ready for video samples. So it’s probably not worth putting to much thought into this video. Also worth noting that the video is panning and would look better if the camera was set still. Finally this is shot indoors so cannot show the full potential of E7 video in optimum lighting.

If it can’t take macro shots, some commercial I saw on YouTube was a bit dodgy. Had some chick running through a forest checking emails, GPS, etc. and at one point stopped to take a picture of a butterfly.

Hold on, I’ll find it *click,type,type,click,skip,click,r-click,copy*

P.S. Actually, watching the video above, that text on the monitor was still quite readable up close. The E72 got quite blurry though.

The quality is quite good considering the fact that its just a pre-production device. Not as good as N8 but then again, its not supposed to be that good.
And to say the truth, the quality is better than most of the HD-recording phones out there (EVO 4G, Droid X, Desire, Samsung Wave, etc….).
And I’m pretty sure that the quality on the shipping device will be even better.
Although I’d love to see more framerate on these devices as framerate does drop in low light conditions quite considerably.

Well said. The irony is, on the E7 – with a non-premium camera (by Nokia standards), AND with early firmware, the HD video quality is STILL better than any other handset out on the market. Now THAT is funny :)

Considering the video was taken indoor, it still look pretty good to me…
