Nokia N8 really coming to AT&t?

Two and a bit weeks ago, we told you that AT&t may be bringing subsidized Nokia N8s over contract plans – as based on the speculation of our sources. Nokia were supposedly working with AT&t on this specific USA build N8 – though it doesn’t need bastardizing, to get into the pockets of US consumers – in both sense of the term – Nokia needs to allow US carriers to muck up their phones and get them subsidized.

GIGAom are giving 10million reasons more why the Nokia N8 is coming to AT&t.

Head over to read Kevin C. Tofel‘s reasons.

With other Symbian^3 handsets primed for maturity for the holiday season (Q4) it may mean the likes of C6-01, E7 and C7 may also meet a US carrier and begin the penetration of US markets from Nokia with actual decent handsets. Let’s do away with that US image that Nokia’s are your disposable throw aways, but are bleeding edge (and just requiring a bit of that superficial polish).

If true, this is a great first step into preparing north America for the onslaught of MeeGo at the High end. It won’t all be about BlackBerry, Android and iPhone in 2011. (No mention for WP7).

Thanks to JFH for the heads up.
