Video: Nokia Ovi Ad N900 – Ovi Journeys demo

I don’t know if this is new, all I know is I’ve never seen it before.

It’s a guy kinda going through his day using Ovi services.

Now I’m not sure why they’re talking about N900. It doesn’t have a Nokia Facebook/Twitter app and navigation still lacks voice prompts (As well as other Ovi Maps features in Symbian, though it does have an excellent layout – settings not buried in menus)

It appears the whole map/facebook/twitter thing is something called Ovi Journeys. Now if you’re a Nokia Uber Geek you’ll have heard that around October last year, Ovi Journeys was said to be the Evolution of Sports Tracker. A geotagging app that tracked your GPS route.

Also check out the screens saying “People” like MeeGo and not “Contacts” like maemo. As well as the Music Store which I was not aware we had on N900.

Nothing to see here. Overzealous marketing guy didn’t check his facts. Remember the N97 video making it look like the N97 performed differently than the way it actually performed? Nokia does this all the time. Can’t compete at the UI level so make up for it in flashy marketing where everything is faked.

As of PR1.3 N900 does have OVI Music Store support.

Hey, hold up there a sec… at around 1:10, I heard:

“Directions to almost anywhere with Ovi Maps… even voice ones”.

Are they referring to Maps on the N900? Better retract that “voice ones” blurb. Maps for Maemo does NOT do voice navigation, and won’t re-calculate your route if you miss a turn. Aside from initially planning a trip, or finding where you are currently, Maps is useless.
Of course, I’m hoping this is a sign of things to come… C’mon, voice-nav for N900!! Yeah! Make my holiday, Nokia!!

i want it to be true but i fear OP is at least partially correct.
And quite frankly the ad irritated me…
