Video Collection: New Year 2011 Fireworks around the world with the Nokia N8

| January 4, 2011 | 8 Replies

What were you filming/snapping the new year fireworks with? Iain Wallace AKA @the_accidental took his Nokia N8 to Edinburgh and the results look fantastic. No extended exposure setting necessary, I think his N8 was set to Auto (though if there was an option and you could put it on a tripod, that would also look pretty awesome).

There’s also a video below and if you’ve got a decent pair of headphones or speakers, it looks and sounds phenomenal – like you’re actually there.

Now let’s not just look at Iain’s fireworks in Scotland, let’s check out all the N8 recorded fireworks around the world :).

Oover to some youtube users.

little steps, just a short stroll to London, England  by achieverschoice. Looking Awesome btw.

Ok, now we’re ready, let’s go all the way, way down to  Sydney, Australia – I had to check if this was filmed by N8. It starts of during New Years Eve day time (wow, a phone recorded that) and moves on to the fireworks at night. By retskcir

Quick hop to Asia, let’s check out Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur with thedarkknight055. Is that Irish folk music?

Here’s Thailand with FritzPinguin

Not really sure if this is in China (only the writing is Chinese and they could be recording from ANYWHERE) – BY jack2293

Move over again to anther continent, let’s go to Africa and visit Mozambique fireworks with mwjenit92

Back to Europe, Of course – Finland with some home fireworks this was titled double cannon or Tuplatykki with Vapunen. I’m guessing it’s Finland based on the use of Finnish.

Here’s New Year Fireworks in Oslo with N8 by acutre

To Hungary with nemethgabesz

To Latvia from janchix03

Amsterdam with jayxflash

Germany with ixtank

Now I can’t seem to find any from America. No Nokia love in US – no way :p. Having said that, nothing from north America at all – looking at you, Canada :p. Still early days – perhaps some more will be uploaded soon. Or Latin America.

Shakey hands + strong winds often caused most of my new year photos to blur out in night mode =(

No public fireworks in Vancouver at all so there was nothing to film. I guess they still have a hangover from the Olympics.
In fact, to my knowledge, privately setting off fireworks like those common in Europe is forbidden in most of North America.

I don’t ever use night mode for anything. Xenon and great low-light capture/processing is good enough for me. Night mode quality has been horrible in every camera device that I have used. I don’t like lower framerates or blurry pictures that come with night mode useage.

I am in the US but I was not near any fireworks so I don’t have any fireworks videos. I will be uploading a video of rare snow in Atlanta GA showing the amazing digital zoom and variable light handling of the N8 at the Hartsfield Jackson Airport…America’s busiest airpot.

My youtube page is MrNokiaTech. I have a few N8 videos already posted along with videos of the N900, N82, E73 and Nokia Nuron videos.

I wish I could capture some Canadian New Years fireworks on my N8. But sadly, I was out with some friends and wasn’t even close to the fireworks. Wouldve been pointless if I tried capturing it from miles away….:/

Why does my avatar keep changing?
This is the same comment system as before, right?

Not sure. Same comment system, must be a wordpress bug. It is sometimes intermittently switching back to old blog format.
