Video: Nokia N8 TV Grammy Spot – has unannounced, leaked Nokia X7?
I was checking out Mark’s blog and looking at the new Nokia N8 tv spot shown at the Grammy’s but I couldn’t get my head around one particular second where we supposedly see the back of the Nokia N8.
Oddly, it doesn’t look like there’s the iconic raised camera bump there. It could be a trick of the light. I mean, if you put your N8 against the light, it goes black and the bump disappears. But notice the top side of it. It’s not parallel. It curves outwards towards the back like the X7 (or even the new windows phone design concept)
The camera and the black trim are most like the X7. The only thing different is the Nokia branding is placed horizontally.
Some milliseconds in you’ll see the back is illuminated. That is NOT the Nokia N8′s back. Unless something has gone weird with the camera. The WP devices have a different design on their back (at least the ones we saw). The tapered edges is also longer. This is more X7. The one that AT&T had supposedly cancelled upon.
ok now for comparison. Too similar no?
The X7 is assymmetric on the side (or top/bottom) having curvy backs. If this is the X7, then this is the first official sighting from Nokia as a source.

Yes, also, the N8 at the end looks kinda different than the actual N8.
But yeah, that particular shot of the phone definitely looks like the X7.
Yeah, I was thinking the N8 looked a little odd in this video too.

I think it might be because the simulated images also seem to simulate a larger screen than the N8 actually has. The screen/bezel ratio looks wrong, like it’s a 3.7″ screen as opposed to a 3.5″ screen. A subtle change with a substantial impact.
Look at how close the simulated screen is to the NOKIA logo on the front of the phone. It looks like they chop off 2-3mm of bezel there.
it would be nice if they shipped it with PR 3.0 because people will complain again and again..
Yaeh it’s all politics at Nokia now.
Elop is a major shareholder at Microsoft,& has planned very well all these dramatic moves.Many now see him as a Lunatic heading Nokia.’Well if the rooms too hot u beta move out’-Mr Elop addressing Employees.All this B$ was well planned.
His decisions at Nokia are not within the company’s best interest
-Nokia shareholders are loosing lot of money as shares continue on declining
-thousands lots their jobs at the company and more will be loosing them
-never mind Nokia customers ,Elop knows what u want & whats good 4 u & that’s WP7.
-those waiting 4 updates don’t worry you’ll be getting WP7 as the major update 2 yo Symbian phones-be ready 4 that coz engineers are almost done with the new WP7 update 4 S^3,but u’ll have 2 pay 4 the update.
-Microsoft will in near future buy Majority of Nokia shares so as to have full control of their new division-Nokia
As 4 me,it’s time 4 Intel now,it’s all intel+MeeGo,never thought i would say this but feels great saying it-’RIP Nokia & Microsoft’
There’s only 1 solution left,Nokia shareholders should vote Mr Elop out @ next AGM in May 2011,vote him and his associates out of the board otherwise we are yet 2 see the worst.
Nice phone but hate that EDof camera. This is what nokia does best… make a great product and leave out an important feature and then say oh “Symbian is not selling”.
weird… if the N8 wasnt released here yet i would think it would be like the N95-NAM where they increased the width/camera assembly
forgot to add they probably altered the X7 commercial with the N8 since the X7 was canceled by AT&T
At&t is irrelevant. They will release it to the rest of the world, and as usual you will probably be able to get it unlocked in USA.
yeah but i meant they were probably planning a ad campaign in the USA (where u dont see nokia commercials) because of a at&t deal
It’s one of the prototype N8s. It was pretty late in the device’s development that they had to cave and add the hump to house the camera that they ended up putting in there. I see someone didn’t watch all those videos talking about the design of the N8 on Nokia Conversations

Shares down 3,59% at the moment. Its more than us who dont like this. I hope they change their mind about this Microsoft deal.
Nokia needs to start doing commercials more like Apple. Show the damn phone actually doing something, not some animation of it, or the phone with an image on it’s screen.
