Nokia Tablet design looks like a big Nokia N8.

| March 15, 2011 | 22 Replies

Over the last couple of days, Andre has been talking Nokia tablets and lack thereof.

In that 140k word report, it’s acknowledged that there is no tablet in Nokia’s portfolio and that these tablets are gaining momentum.

Nokia Tablet designs have surfaced.

Watching my Nokia Twitter Stream going crazy, it seems that some tablet designs have appeared. Nokia apparently applied for design patent to the  United States Patent and Trademark Office on May 28th, 2010. Since that’s so far back, Vlad from Engadget reckons it’s a shelved MeeGo product.

It looks like a big Nokia N8. It complements the design of N8/E7 (and very distantly the C1-01 which tried to be like N8) making those iconic tapering edges Symbolic of Nokia.

With Nokia now in a seemingly headless Chicken stage and no new flagship smartphone yet for 2011, will they have time and resources to make a decent tablet that’s not just a poor man’s iPad or an overpriced but still bad attempt of being a tablet? If they are to make one, what will power it?

hahah. :) not until 2013.. You should understand.. Nokia’s software development is f*ckin slow.. They never be perfect..

    • Croco says:

Why on earth would you need a 12MP camera on a tablet. This is such a good joke. You can imagine how did this made my laugh imagining someone trying to take a picture with a 10″ tablet :) )))))

      • h3csc says:

        +1
Nokia would have been an idiot if they put 12MP on this one.
Who the hell would hold a 10 inch tablet for photo anyway? Showing off to the crowd?

I was doing some coursework and suddenly the twitter column for Nokia suddenly started going crazy. It doesn’t do this unless there’s something quite interesting…like, er..unfortunately, feb 11.

    • deep space bar says:

i think it will be meego since they where working on 10.1 screen with meego on netbooks

  3. Yemi says:

I think everyone got this wrong. My best guess is :
This is the Lankhu tablet with 5″ screen size. And if Nokia really wants to release a meego slate this year, we will see the Lankhu with a screen size between 5″ and 6.5″.

    Where is Alex68???????

    • Eero says:

Lankhu, typo? :D :D I think you mean Lankku :) (=planck or board in english)

And I´m really hoping to see a Nokia tablets in stores as soon as possible! And in different sizes, with variable OS-options! MeeGo, Windows, even Symbian for crying out loud!
LOVE THAT DESIGN! Just what I´ve been talking about, a tablet that is basically a bigger N8/E7!

    • Goc says:

No, this isn’t Lankku, Lankku is the N950 and it’s screen is a bit larger than 4 inches.

Plus the design here has a 3.5mm headphone jack, so it’s easy to see that it’s a 10 inch screen.

    dunno where to put this

The N900 was always a bit too “powerful” in its industrial design to make a style- conscious person to buy it. The MeeGo product is no direct N900 successor that much I can tell you as it has everything it takes for the style- conscious, always-connected enthusiast to love it.

  5. There have been plenty of rumors and speculation about a possible Nokia MeeGo tablet.see this

  6. Shyne, KLA says:

Don’t waste your time it’s a shelved project already !
Nokia are not gonna make any tablets any time soon,
let them make a decent smartphone first then ….try

  7. seidhe says:

I don’t really like n8 design (I prefer the look of c7). But that shape as a tablet is really nice
