Nokia back-pedals on Windows Phone 7 move – Symbian stays!

While we don’t have any concrete quotes on the matter right now, we’re hearing about significant rumblings from certain sources inside Nokia that recent developments and discussions around the Windows Phone 7 partnership term sheet have fallen through. From what we’re hearing, it seems Nokia’s brands and branding issues around their mapping services would all but disappear.

With little in the way of monetary benefit from their software strategy as is, the loss of brand recognition and possible consideration of their devices as little more than a decent camera above regular OEM status has seemingly ended many months of courtship. This may be for the better if recent rumblings of Symbian’s upcoming, Qt-based UI updates being “excellent” come to fruition.

We’ll keep our ears to the ground for more news!

Looks like some of you guys may get your wish after all, no more Windows Phone 7 news!! 😉
