Video: Learn More about the Nokia E7 (and more simulated screen fails – or leaked features?!)

| April 7, 2011 | 29 Replies

There’s a new Nokia video for the Nokia E7 called “Learn more about the E7″

Since when could you pinch zoom and pan left and right in the text editor? I think this wasn’t the first time this was done as I remember seeing this error on a much older video. So why has no one noticed this and continue to reupload this? Unless this is an upcoming feature on the summer update.

If we’re picky the HDMI out isn’t on the right side of the phone. It’s on the left/top. On the side with microUSB/Power Button and 3.5mm jack.

Since when does the current Symbian browser have grid interface for browsing tabs? Simulated screen fails? New upcoming feature? Or another horrible lie thing like those N97 videos with attractive animations that never were.

It’s nice that they demo USB OTG.

Ovi Store hasn’t been green in a long, long while. Nor is it organized like this. This is prior to 2.0 no?

With the green Ovi Store thing, it kinda suggests these are another simulated screen fails from Nokia. It’s not the first time.most recent XP i.e. on Nokia N8

That was the most boring commercial ever. Almost fell asleep half way through.

    • Mark says:

      Not unlike your posts then.

    • Doug says:

Man, you sure have generated a lot of fans where ever you go, whether it’s here or on the Mobile Review forums. As I understand it, you’re a former Nokia guy, who sees the failures of Nokia, and the continued failures of Nokia, and just wants to see them do something correct for once, and finally release a product with software that’s down with the times. Nothing wrong with that. I’m in the same boat. Only difference is that I’m still a Nokia guy rocking an N8 and E72.

I don’t know if I’d call those commercials exactly. As the title says, I’d say they’re simply previews that show a little something about the E7.

Interesting insight with regards to the details of the video.

My assumption with the HDMI connectivity part is that they are generally saying that it can be connected to the TV. They didn’t mean to show specifically that the port was on that side.

Internet browsing would be nice if it looked like that. I wonder if they will incorporate that in the next major firmware update. I thought it was going to be tabbed but not look like that. Correct me if I’m wrong.

It would be interesting if they actually incorporated some of these features in the next major firmware update.

    • Jay Montano says:

You’re correct. It will have tabbed browsing but of a linear action like multitask view not grid view presented here. That’s more Maemo/Windows Phone like.

As for the HDMI thing, yeah that’s me being picky. I say if you’re going to show something, show it right. Attention to detail. Once you stop paying, you’re in one massive unpolished turd.

LOL just LOL, all I can say.

  6. meegomad says:

couldnt they make someone speak in the ad? and ads are suppposed to be getting our attention???

look at the windows phone add dropping a phone in the loo?
stupid things catch people attention the most, they could have demostrated how this would work in real life instead of a sentence about it

it was so boring but the browser looks cool it if ever is real

seriously nokia what fucking idiots do you have working there?

  7. waloody88 says:

    NOKIA FOOLING PEOPLE! :)

    Launch Warning:E900

  9. Sh0cK says:

only more lies from nokia.. Nothing more. Why we nokia fans so pure ? They are doing what did in the past. Like n97, like 5800…

  10. arkku says:

If Nokia doesn’t implement these changes to the next major update, they are screwed. No one can delude their customers like this without punishment. If these improvements are coming, and I believe they are, I can’t call them liars if they announce changes little early.

  11. Deaconclgi says:

Maybe some of these questionable things will be shown on April 12th….

  12. Mark says:

The E7 is a waste of time. Sorry, it’s just not good enough.

    • Meegomad says:

Very true the n8 just got through
the e7 is just too late no where near as good as the phones now and worse since symbian is supposed to be killed off

      • Ghurab says:

I would have to disagree. I have been using my E7 for over a month now and it is the best combination of business phone and multimedia machine I have ever come across.
It’s stable, reliable and with the capacity to amuse when you need distraction.
I use it quite intensely on a daily basis and the battery still lasts for two days without charging.
        Just my two cents.

  13. BrentR says:

Pinch zoom/pan in the email works just as it shows. The problem here is that they show the editing screen instead of the email body screen

  14. Razor says:

I’m sorry but e7 is a waste of money device.Oh! Come on same crap old generation arm processor and low ram with only difference is 4 inch screen with cbd display but again same nHD f*****g resloution with a 4 row qwerty keyboard. And price mindblowing $649 dollar. I don’t know what idiot will buy this overprice outdated phone anyway. It’s better to buy good android or even iphone as well. Stupid nokia has lost it’s way for good with no good flagship phone. Sad to write these but even samsung and sony-ericsson is doing much better job than what nokia is doing……

    • Cod3rror says:

Wonderful! Couldn’t have said it better myself!

    • Michael says:

In my country E7 now costs 366 euro (492 $).

I think it is good price for it.

      • meegomad says:

        no its not

its outdated, you can find lots of cheaper android phones with qwerty keyboard, same proccessor etc and youll have a better software

buy a n900 its still good except the apps side its not that bad and i would choose that over an e7
