Nokia Windows Phone Mango device to blow your socks off? (disruptive MeeGo device soon, and Belle demo at 20:20 Mobile)
On my timeline, supposedly a Senior Training Consultant for Nokia, @DaveTrevaskus tweets that Nokia’s Windows Phone Mango device would blow our socks off.
Is this from first hand experience? From a Nokia guy it sort of has to be if he’s actual Nokia staff.
This is the first we’ve heard in terms of reaction to the much awaited Nokia Windows Phone device (that will come with Mango). We haven’t seen any leaks whatsoever and that’s quite Amazing seeing that Elop is walking around with one, MS labs has one, Nokia labs are testing it too etc.
Dave seems to know quite a lot of exciting stories.
Symbian Belle to be demoed at 20:20 Mobile, and sharing the Nokia Q3-Q4 roadmap.
Hmm…what is coming up at Nokia Q3-Q4?
He also replied to Mark Guim’s story about the market disrupting device saying that he’ll be able to talk about it soon, confirming possibly that device’s reveal in the June 21st event – Nokia Connection. Some were in disbelief that this was actually happening and that this was just a S40 event. This is the only direct connection to Nokia.
Following the tweets, the disruptive device is MeeGo powered.
Speaking of this MeeGo device, Dave ‘speculates’.
I honestly dont know what’s going to happen – I hope it’s not called N9 as the name’s been around for a while. We need refreshing
So, what with this information, has Dave said too much? Well nothing really that’s too or directly revealing.

CIAO NOKIA CIAO !!!!
Oh goodie! I believe everything they say!
While I’d love to see a Nokia WP device, the tweet was in a seperate sentence (‘This device will blow your socks off’) and could refer to either the WP device or the Meego device. Not sure what the context of the tweeting was prior to this tweet, though. Regardless of which device he was referring to, a Nokia WP device with Mango is ‘sock blowing’ in and of itself! Looking forward to the designs….
I will not be blown away from Windows Mango until they get flash web plugin. Til then I’d rather stick with symbian which has flash in it. Maybe after the mango update Windows will finally get the flash.
….. You’re serious aren’t you? Flash on a mobile will deter you from getting a device??
I mean to each his own but Flash is crap on the N8, makes it nigh untenable but if it’s a need that you have then good for you.
I love my N8 but I have to admit that the flash support is far from decent

Pretty much that sums it up
With my N8 I can’t even write a question mark because the predictive text changes every ‘?’ to a ‘!’. This is the same for every phone with Thai firmware. This was introduced at the same time someone had the stellar idea to remove the ‘?’ from the main screen and replace it with a ‘@’. Cos we all use ‘@’ a lot more than ‘?’ right? Do they release a fix for this rather GLARING issue. Nope, in fact I’d be surprised if they even bother to fix it in the 2012 anna update. They have been far too busy changing those icons after all.
Nokia blow my socks off? yerrr right
And why not just sell it you ask? Well I will be, I’m just waiting on a replacement bottom plastic cap for it, because the old one mysteriously snapped off on one side (and no not because I threw it on the floor in a fit of keyboard induced rage)
Which kinda dampens my opinion of its last redeeming feature – it’s build quality.
How about just press the * key and change it to a question mark…..not exactly hard
err no dude, I’m talking about in the qwerty landscape keyboard. If you hit the ‘?’ key it turns into a ‘!’ every time (with predictive on.) I guess they think i want to shout everything I say and not ask any questions. Which would actually be true if a Nokia representative was in front of me.
And just to make it completely clear. If you hit that ‘?’ key with predictive on there is NO way to get it to display a ?. Even if you click on the ! you can choose to change it into a ! or a !. looool
lol need a delete comment, that last one is wrong. You can actually choose between a ! and a ?. But obviously doing so is not at all practical
“I guess they think i want to shout everything I say and not ask any questions. Which would actually be true if a Nokia representative was in front of me.”
LOL!
Good one!
If this is true…then people are really looking forward to this…
Why do people take this tweet so seriously? He’s a training consultant, for crying out loud. He doesn’t know anything about upcoming devices.
I have an N8 and use Opera as main browser. Today a buddy in the office bought a Xperia Play, just tried the browser and it seems to be in another world compared to symbian.
The only thing I’ll wait now is my contract to finish and get good camera phone with android.
You ain’t finding a comparable one…
Not yet. hopefully in november when I buy a new handset. Let’s see what nokia can bring tilla that.
English please
