Pic: The official Nokia N950

We’ve seen the same photos of the Nokia N9 (Dali) Silver QWERTY slider for quite a while, never knowing if that will ever see the light of day. Today it’s officially the developer handset and images are now surfacing.

Update: Here’s a video of the N950 in a case (like the N900 to hide it)

Cheers Micah!

    That’s very very nice indeed.

  2. Cod3rror says:

    Ah the “Developer phone” LOL.

    Read it as “Pigeon phone”

Nokia marketing guy at the meeting: “Guys, as usual we can’t deliver anything on time, in short, we suck! We can’t compete with another more modern companies, this N950 is too hard for us and don’t have the time nor skills to deal with it, it should’ve been out in 2010! BUT! listen to this, let’s released it as is, unfinished and call it a “Developer phone” LOL, let those suckers who buy finish it, great idea huh? High five! WINNING!”

    • Nightmare says:

Fuck off dude… you hate Nokia and the N9 so much why do you even bother to post. Trolling everywhere, MNB , MR Forums , Maemo Forums.. Get a life !

    • @momost says:

dude, you can say whatever you want. as you can see, the N9 speaks for itself. you’re trolling, hating, and/or being a used cunt. if anything, you’re more annoying than funny.

      • Harangue says:

Well, the N9 does speak for itself. But I’m only inclined to see the hardware innovations.

Software wise it is nice and ease of use is guaranteed. But from what I’ve seen so far it hardly is disrupting or really well thought through.

I was just looking at some Mango preview vids from several sources at the same time I read about the N9 and looked at several vids from that.
The N9 has the swipe gestures similar to Apple’s Expose in Mac OSX But other than that I haven’t seen very useful things. (not mentioning the power it houses with multitasking, that’s something else.)

An example is that ridicolous alarm setting. It looks nice but hardy better or even really usable.
Not to say that WP is better or anything, but I see far more well thought through ideas in that than I have so far seen in the N9.

Granted, it is too early to call it probably. But to say I’m overwhelmed with a buying urge? No.

        • @momost says:

I definitely see where you’re coming from, but whoever buys the N9 knows that it’s a Nokia N900 situation again. Although, Nokia might give more support now that they’re “paying attention”. Cod3rror trolling is just annoying, there’s no perfect device out there. It’s all about choice. I’m rolling with the n900, iphone4, e71 and hd7 and i’m looking forward to this.

        • Arbegla says:

I would argue that the “Smart”phone market has changed from well thought out interfaces to simple, easy to use and consume interfaces. Symbian is a prime example of a well thought out interface where everything was organized into folders, which further break down into levels. However, given the rise of iOS and Android, simple has become mainstream and in the end is what sells these days. I see the N9 as several steps BACK from the N900 but more forward because it is going to appeal to the mass market and average consumer.
Nokia doesn’t need anymore geeky enthusiast devices, the Symbian lineup is slowly transforming into that. The N900 was another one and there’s always been the previous Maemo devices. Nokia needs something that is going to click and stick with the public, like the N95 or the E71. I can see the N9 hitting mainstream popularity given enough push. What it lacks now is App support and platform support. Nokia has eaten it’s words with Symbian, maybe they’ll do so with MeeGo as well. It’s sad because as much as I want to get it, the N900 taught me lessons.

          • Harangue says:

Would you agree that simple easy to use interface is one that is well thought through?

There is more to simple and ease of use than just a minimalistic UI/UX. It’s also about usefull shortcuts.

One very simple thing: iOS and WP allow acces to the gallery from the camera app with just a swipe of the screen. With Symbian it is *tap *select *tap *select *tap and you can see the previous pictures you made just a few min ago. That’s ease of use in my perspective.

    • tk1 says:

Aren’t they giving this phone to developers for free? If so, I wouldn’t exactly call them suckers since they’re not paying a cent for it.

      • Cod3rror says:

They aren’t paying the developers anything for doing Nokia’s job for them and finishing the phone either.

        • another_fan says:

How are they finishing the phone?

I thought that the point of the developer device program is to get devices to people who make apps. Do you consider that “finishing the phone”?

    • akse says:

      Dude your life is trash.

      • Cocco Bill says:

Yes, he’s a really annoying piece of shit who has no life outside his trolling. What a pathetic individual.

I’ve said this before and say it again:

Just ignore him. Do not answer to his comments. Trolls feed on comments.

  3. IAKIRK says:

Looks fab. THAT would be a device I would go out and buy today. And yet Nokia have decided they wont make it available to the public, just for selected developers. I really don’t get it… such a shame. Will just have to get an HTC instead then!

  4. stylinred says:

    looks nice

interesting how the front facing camera and sensors are in a different spot than the n9

  5. y76y says:

    after seeing n9 and n950

nokia can be forgiven, i really hope these are not the first and last meego phones from nokia

N950 design is more sexy than n9
    n9 design is more modern

i never think nokia can make such a beatiful unique ui in meego phone, may i know whose ideas it is?

    • outdated os says:

      the palm guy?

    • Guest says:

A while ago I read that Nokia had hired three independent developers with no connection to Nokia to make GUI for Nokia MeeGo.

Nokia wanted people without influences from Nokia’s own software development. If it is true I do not know.

  6. deep space bar says:

i’m either gonna get this or wait cause the n9 they still fucked up microSIM wtf where they thinking 8mp with no dual led and xenon flash….wtf speakers at the bottom wtf no HDMI port ……..wtf

    • Guest says:

And whats your problem with microSIM? with my provider it is just to order microSIM with same phonenumber, without any cost. iPhone4 uses microSIM so this mobile will not be alone with that.

  7. hexpoll says:

    A video is here:

  8. Ali Majaz says:

Is there a HDMI port in N950 . There is still alot of confusion about it , i thought this might be the right place to find out

  9. nikon d800 says:

What i do not understood is in reality how you’re now not really a lot more neatly-favored than you may be now. You are so intelligent. You recognize therefore significantly in the case of this topic, made me in my opinion believe it from a lot of varied angles. Its like women and men aren’t fascinated until it’s something to accomplish with Girl gaga! Your own stuffs excellent. At all times deal with it up!
