Video: Speed Test, Nokia N8 vs Nokia X7, PR1.2 vs PR2.0 (Symbian Anna)
Now you may have already seen the comparison video between two N8s, one with PR1.2 and the other with the newer Symbian Anna (due for existing customers in August but should be available this month on new shipping S^3 handsets, and for X7 and E6-00)
In the video below, Camb078 presents us with direct comparisons of X7 and N8 to see what effect, if any, Symbian Anna has on speed.
It’s sadly not unanimously Anna, on the whole performing a fraction faster. Every little bit counts and combines.
The real speed difference is seen in the new browser (which is probably part of why I’ve had a positive experience with the E6- see review) That and the other improvements to browser UI.

Cheers for the tip, yasu!
Also check out the brightness difference of the two handsets. GSM Arena noted this was the brightest AMOLED display they had ever tested.
I’m very much looking forward to Symbian Anna for my N8. I think problems I’ve experienced with it are mostly now due to a need of a hard reset. I hope availability i’s not something silly like “END of August”.

can you type the link for me? Thanks Jay

Who?
fuck u man, N8 is the best… so bark my dog
This was not regarding the fone.. it was regarding the os.. u moron
What are you talking about? Jay didn’t say that the N8 is a bad phone. He was just saying that the software has some problems. You have to admit, the N8 software isn’t perfect, no software is.
I love one detail particularly with Anna.
There’s now that circle loading animation when an application is launched. That is great and I’ll tell you why:
I HATE I HATE I HATE that in Symbian^3 user does not get any feedback whether the tap was effective or not, forcing the user to wait 1-2 seconds to see if the application actually launches.
Yup, that has been really useful. Though a loading circle probably isn’t the best method (but probably best for limitations they had).
Illusionary animation as used by iOS is probably the best way to go, i.e. visual cues you don’t associate with “waiting” rather than something there to interest your eye and direct you towards an action in the phone.
Transition animations:
1) hides waiting time
2) acknowledges something is happening
3) directs the user towards something (can’t just be any old razzmatazz)
Actually I noticed that when you launch an app, the screen dims a little bit before it launches.. And IMO that’s better than the loading circle..
That would be fine on perfect lightning conditions (i.e. insides), but when you have sunlight or are below a lamp it would be useless, so it would be useless in many situations (at least for a lot of people)
my c7-00 pr1.2 is every bit fast/responsive as that x7…
n8 from the video is in serious need for hard reset =)
it’s probably loaded with tons of useless apps witch slows it down… just look how long does it take to load Clock/Alarm app hahaha
N8 is probably slow because He has been using it for several months now and has tons of games and apps installed
Yup, my N8 freezes at every opportunity now because it has gotten clogged.
*#7370# over the weekend. Sucks that my memory card backup failed.
Well, I have less than 20 apps and sometimes I have to wait for 2-3 seconds for the keys I pressed to appear in the screen when writing a SMS.
I would really like that Nokia returned to the original clock speed of the processor (800 MHz)
same thing,
but may be due to the fact that i got thousands of sms on my n8
How are the hardware specifications for X7 vs N8?
Total identical in every practical way.
Not identical, but performance wice they are.
Jay, Where can i get the entire changelog of anna? I mean, I came to know about the mark multiple feature for messaging via the french video..
Does Anna still have the option of a T9 keyboard?
Will N8 be getting the Joikuspot and Intranet applications out of the box in Anna just like in E6 and X7?
Yes it still has an option for T9 .. pretty simple and neat
I can’t wait for Symbian Anna to arrive !
Nokia N8 is the best all-rounder (to me at least
)
Actual Symbian Anna will be updated version of the SW in X7.
Man, I really want an N8 for the camera, but I do not like Symbian
Speaking of the camera. Does anybody here know where Pixelpipe has gone? I can’t find it on the Ovi store anymore.
They are both equally terrible.
There must be something with your eyes, or brain…
why are they showing us this shit send it out NOW
For me, the best is the n8!
