Nokia 800 in list spotted by Windows Phone developer – SeaRay?

| August 17, 2011 | 39 Replies

Elbert Perez is a game creator for Windows Phone. On the phones that are using his game, one of them is a Nokia handset. The Nokia 800.

This is the highest end Nokia so far known with the new naming convention. Is it Sea-Ray? Or possibly some other Windows Phone.

no matter how nokia designers design windows phone, it looks ugly with these ugly physical three buttons in front( oh no, capacitive or virtual one is not good for gaming, iphone users know that) and should i say the windows logo in nokia windows phone)

oh wait, fripping ugly windows phone 7 ui

          WP7 is crap!

Hi, since you have (I assume) used WP extensively, could you please provide a mini-review of what you dislike (and if there is anything you did like)?

Even better if/when you have used Mango!

            Thanks in advance! :)

Just ignore the trolls. I appreciate that Jay doesn’t delete posts by people who clearly have nothing to contribute and just spout the same stuff over and over again – censorship is one of the worst things possible – but that doesn’t mean we have to treat everything people post as valuable.

It’s rather disappointing, because Jay’s a real Nokia fan who supports them in everything they do, and all the people who trash Windows Phone 7 aren’t real Nokia fans.

I thought most of the WP devices to be released until Mid-2012(when Tango will be released) will all be high end.

  3. DroidUser999 says:

I thought Nokia had only one phone for this year’s release right? if that is the case then this is SeaRay.
    Also
What happened to Nokia-MS Party on Aug 17th. Did they announce anything?

    • viipottaja says:

err… the party is tonight.. :)

    • Taigatrommel says:

It was said they’d have a “small portfolio of devices” ready this year for small launch on limited regions.

I think they talked about a touch-only phone as well as one with a keyboard. So this small portfolio would include two different devices.

      • DroidUser999 says:

Did you go to the party. is this where you heard this comments. Because none of the sites have reported anything about it. Can you provide a link

where is the successor of N8-00?
    802?

    • Jvardon says:

That’s a good question, what happened to the N8-01? I’m still waiting for that qHD screen and going-to-be-amazing-camera.

      • migo says:

Let’s not fuck up Symbian any worse than the 500 already has. Keep the resolution the same, devs have enough reason as is to not support Symbian, let’s not make it one more.

If they’ve got 2 resolutions to work with for Qt – 854×480 and 640×360, that’s manageable, but all Symbian apps should be 640×360 only, and it would help if Symbian phones stay that resolution as well (E6 is a reasonable exception).

    • Viipottaja says:

I assume you mean one running Symbian? I guess if you are lucky its among the 6 or so not yet know Symbian devices expected to be announced/launched in the next 10 months or so (remember, Elop said in June there will be 10 devices in 12 months and we have since become aware of 4).

However, its of course also possible that it will never come out.

      • oho says:

It is, I have a reliable source who told me beginning of 2012 they will announce new dual-core Symbian phones with a better version of Symbian, a one he described as being “an exclusive version to those dual-core phones”.

        • 352x416 says:

Would they be using the ST-Ericsson U8500 that Nokia signed up to use in first half of 2009?

        • djvita says:

          looks like my next phone!

        • migo says:

Symbian’s strength is that it runs on low powered hardware, giving the potential of good power management, good battery life and lower manufacturing costs. Running on a dual core CPU would negate all of that.

          • oho says:

And would strengthen its situation against competition!

          • ssdh says:

Well not really, some dual cores, if properly utilized by the OS, can have the same battery consumption as those with single cores, since dual core does not usually push the CPU’s to full power (because already two of them are working at the same time), overheating can be prevented… So if symbian, which can already run pretty good on a last gen single core CPU, will be utilized properly on a dual core, then I guess it would have the same, or better battery life than prevous generation symbian phones…

          • N00-00 says:

A well designed and optimised OS will consume less power when run on dual-core than a single core for the simple fact that each CPU in a dual-core processor would take care of half the processing and hence will have lower CPU usage. Also, 2 cpu’s running at 50% usage is better than one at 100% because the power consumption increases exponentially with CPU usage.

        • ssdh says:

That should be for the N9 successor…

  9. oho says:

Off-topic: any news about the Nokia and Microsoft party in Gamescom tonight?

    • migo says:

Please, please, please let there be an announcement of N-Gage titles coming to Xbox Live. Mile High Pinball, One, and several others would be absolutely awesome additions to the lineup.
