IDC’s Q2 2011 Western Europe shipment estimates. Nokia 5th in Smartphone shipments?
I know it’s not pretty but here’s another look at IDC’sQ2 2011 results, mainly for Western Europe in terms of smartphone and mobile phone shipments.
In Mobile Phones, Nokia is number 2 behind Samsung in shipments. In smartphones, Nokia is 5th in smartphone shipments for Western Europe.
Edit:Â Nokia is number 2 behind Samsung in Smartphone AND Mobile phone shipments and Nokia is 5th in Smartphone shipments for western Europe. I’m not sure there is a specific table for mobile phones?
According to Wikipedia, the countries of Western Europe are:
- Austria
- Belgium
- Denmark
- Finland
- France
- Germany
- Greece
- Iceland
- Ireland
- Italy
- Luxembourg
- Netherlands
- Norway
- Portugal
- Spain
- Sweden
- Switzerland
- Sweden
- United Kingdom
I wonder what actual numbers sold are. If you remember, whilst it was proclaimed that Nokia was ousted already in Q2 2011, Gartner said that may be a little early as in terms of sales, Nokia was still number 1.
Well, we’re already in Q3 now and nothing in terms of market ready portfolio could make any changes. But Q4 may start to see some healing, with Nokia 500, 600, 700, 701, N9, and Nokia Windows Phone. I think as Elop said yesterday, his report card may be best evaluated when the strategy is implemented – i.e. not the changes that took place to get the plan in to action but the plan itself when it is executed.
Looking up again, there’s going to be some awesome phones coming in 2012. I hope that’s not too far away for Nokia fans – I know many have waited much, much too long. Keep an eye out for some awesome things happening in Qt, Symbian and Windows Phone.
