My Dream Nokia: #32 – Nokia W7 Windows Phone Mango Concept.

| September 13, 2011 | 33 Replies

@alexstanescu and John Dorian tipped us of a concept phone that fits right into our Dream Nokia section which concept-phones.com found at Deviantart

You can see the design is highly inspired by the Nokia X7. This is however, a windows phone device.

  • 4.2″ AMOLED 800X480
  • 1GHz CPU
  • 576MB ROM, 768MB RAM
  • 16GB storage
  • CZ 12MP Dual LED
  • Micro USB
  • AGPS
  • BT 3.0
Pretty standard specifications, but more than enough to provide a great user experience overall. It’s using the older naming convention and is marked as a 7 series so more in line with other mid-range handsets in Nokia’s portfolio
I like this curvy back.

I’d only take the gills out! other than that is beautiful

    • m says:

i totally agree. concept looks great without the gills. i will also add that the curvy back would look even better if it was a slide out like the n97

  2. Bas says:

    this must be a joke

  3. the game says:

is a combination between X7 and 600 in the model but 576MB ROM, 768MB RAM, better 1 ghz

  4. Bas says:

the x7 is a That ’70s Show phone

  5. So7t says:

I would would prefer Xenon like N8 have instead Dual-Led!! ;) Much much better results!! ;)

    • Dave says:

If I had to choose, I’d always go for Xenon.

Dual LEDs are *not* a flash for still images, they’re a video light thats useless for 99% of imaging.

But they’re great for use a fairly weak torch on a dark night.

  9. Nagol says:

    Wow very nice!!!

  10. richard says:

It should be considered as mid-phone according to it’s specs. I really wonder where are the Windows Phone here in Philippines. I haven’t seen any. I want to try it. I hope that Windows Phone is virus proof like Symbian. Can anyone here tell me if it’s virus proof?

    • amoshydra says:

      symbian isn’t virus proof?

      • rebel_ng says:

considering i have self signed and installed just about everything there is on the net, i can tell you its pretty virus proof.

        • amoshydra says:

You can also self sign a virus app can install it to your phone.

Probably we can say it this way, that Symbian is not too vulnerable to virus.

    • Anastasios-Antonios Toulkeridis says:

@richard There is no more virus-proof OS out there than Windows Phone. A Windows Phone app is not allowed access to the storage area of another app. Every app lives in its own isolated storage.
Also, since the only official way to install apps is through the official marketplace you are certain that the app has been thouroughly tested and behaves appropriately

      • Harangue says:

That the Marketplace equals safe isn’t really true. One example is the recent fumble with that AVG virus scan app. That was doing things I’d rather not see it do.

Anyway, WP is made following the sandbox principle AFAIK. Apps run in their own environment and have very little control of registry elements, pretty much none at all. That right there keeps most viruses out.

why are all these people wasting their TIME!!! Nokia will never make these

  12. realtechie.. says:

    i appreciate the hardwork.

  13. Ik says:

They’re not wasting their time. They’re only trying to be innovative

  14. cipox says:

nice design except the os, closed source = Communist
    open source = Democracy.
Go to hell all fu**** Communism regime long live Democracy .

  15. cipox says:

    closed source =
    (communist capitalism) = china ?
    open source =
    (Democratic socialism) venezuela ?

  16. FM says:

What do I expect from a new phone?

    1. The hardware must have enough reserves for future applications.
    2. The software gives me more advantages.
    3. Additionally it looks nice.

The hardware performance is similar to HTC Mozart in 2010 except of the camera. Now Mozart costs less than 250 Euro.
Additionally the camera button is inconvenient to use because of the round angles. The Nokia X7 users already complain this fact. The curvy back is a good idea, but it makes it difficult to type a text while it is on the table.

The UI can’t be personalized. I’m used to change the themes very often and install apps from other suppliers. I’m afraid with the software I subject myself to many restrictions.

It makes no sense to say it is a middle class handy. As long as a better phone exists the people would spend a little more money to get the better one. Additionally good phones mostly supported by the providers. The Samsung Galaxy and iPhone is the best example for this behaviour.

The W7 looks nice but it is not competitive. It will suffer the same fate as the X7 – no chance. I hope Nokia will announce its first WP7 with the best hardware performance and specific Nokia functions in October.
