Accessories: Thoughts on Nokia Play 360 NFC Speakers
Richard Dorman has got his hands on TWO Nokia Play 360s from the Nokia Flagship store in Helsinki and has posted his thoughts at his new blog, OnlyFoolsAndMobiles.
- Better than MD-3 and MD-11, Play 360 are in another league
- Not as portable but not huge either
- Box contents: micro usb charger, a 3.5mm double ended jack cable and a cover/carrier for the speaker
- Set up very easy
- Pairing instructions in box lid (note, you can use these with other non NFC bluetooth devices, you just won’t get that tap and connect experience)
- Can act as paired unit – as in with two Play 360s, turning one off will also turn the other one off (and of course as noted before, as a pair, they can split the channel into left and right and they will say whether they are “left” or “right”
- Oddly changing volume on the phone doesn’t change volume on Play 360s (perhaps not with handsets tested? Maybe with N9?
- Most importantly: Sound is glorious and is loud “too loud” apparently. I’d like to hear that.
- I want one. No wait. I want two.

Perhaps Jay you save money and get two for review. I heard that pairing up two Nokia Play 360s will produce a surround sound.
Would be interesting to see if there could be hacks to pair more than two Play 360s to try and get sound behind you. Like portable surround sound.
Hook these up to N9, play some movies via TV out (or via N8 with HDMI). Possibly the new Symbian C_____ dual core next year :p
Very beautiful, but I read that one is ca. 150€ and that is sooooo much.
My wife is getting me one for Christmas, and my brother is getting me another. I love Christmas.
When will these be for sale in the USA?
I’ve wanted one for months…
hey Jay there is a video on youtube with 4 360′s connected to an n9.
Blows apart anything from Apple. Nice.
Volume control issue exists for most Bluetooth headsets – with iPhone, with Symbian… N9 works, though.
Need help please!
I have a Nokia N8 and recently bought a Nokia Play 360 speaker system.
Have managed to pair the 2 devices together via bluetooth – sound is great.
However, cannot seem to the adjust the volume comming out of the play 360 speaker using my N8 phone?
It seems to work the other way, where adjusting the volume controls on the 360 speaker adjusts the volume on the phone, but wont work the other way ie. adjusting the volume on my N8 phone will not adjust the volume coming out of the play 360 speaker.
What am I doing wrong please?
When will these be for sale in chennai, India
