Video: 10 minute Nokia N9 Black unboxing and hands on and written preview (Slovak)

| September 29, 2011 | 6 Replies

Here’s a 10 minute unboxing of the super sexy black Nokia N9. It’s in Slovak.

Hands on MeeGo-Harmattan demo begins about half way through the video.

BTW their description links to their site which has a N9 preview.

  • Apparently MeeGo reminds of Windows Phone (maybe the horizontal swiping)
  • Camera among the best.

Seems to be kind of laggy in this video, especially at the beginning.

After a personal hands-on (about an hour of heavy use) I didn’t notice any lagging anywhere in the OS except in two specific locations.

      1) Associated Press news-application could post stories in the Notifications and when that was the only thing on, there was some brief stuttering (nothing distracting, but noticeable) when scrolling down first time the Notifications screen. I believe this happened because of loading of the thumbnail pictures for all of those dozens of new items.

      2) Maps-application was also lagging for the first 5 seconds or so after it was opened. Harmattan Maps application might still need a little work. But it can also tell you how to get to your destination by using public transportation, which was a nice surprise.

Overall the performance was absolutely great, especially considering that the device FW was only PR1.1.

Did not notice any lag in this video.

I don’t see any lags at all. The black N9 is truly gorgeous in a classic sense, I was going to purchase the Magenta but after seeing this, not anymore. Black is the way to go!

The more I read about it, the more I feel punch (and pinch) in my heart. Nokia better hold on to it and add 950 or E7 type devices based on it.

I am beginning to wish if Sony Ericsson jump with them for supporting MeeGo (or whatever it will be called for Nokia now).

    Hi Jay,

    found this on Expansys UK

    http://www.expansys.com/nokia-soft-cover-for-nokia-n9-blue-221141/

Its basically a date for an offical nokia cover for the N9? do you think this could be an indication that the N9 will be availible the same day….
