BBC Click on Nokia World 2011 and Nokia Lumia 800

I don’t think I’ve been waiting for this episode of BBC Click more than any other – why? Well, it was at Nokia World.

I actually met Spencer Kelly, the presenter of the show between takes – had a small chat before he had to finish off his segment (and I had to run to one of the Q&A sessions for the bloggers). He mentioned they hadn’t made an episode as fast as this week since the Steve Jobs special. He was a really nice guy actually (like Elop, yeah I met the boss and had a photo too :p he’s pretty down to earth. Never met OPK), a little bit more personable than some Nokia execs I bumped into.

I also saw Dan Simmons recording his piece too but I think I was in the middle of a 710 demo.

It’s nice how they mention platforms doing what Nokia Windows Phone are doing, but like in Social Network and people, few do it so seamlessly (with Android). Also whilst there are other phones with WP Mango, BBC note they have added extras, such as Nokia Drive and Nokia Music.

Whilst it does lack some things, BBC says it might not actually matter. They seem to suggest that the important bits, it’s got right. There’s an interview with a guy from CNET saying it’s the first high end Nokia he hasn’t instantly hated. Mobile Choice felt the 800 wasn’t going to turn for Nokia’s high end space. That’s ok. baby steps. It’s not high, high end. It is 8XX afterall.
