Chinese N9 gets Meego PR1.2 !!!

| November 5, 2011 | 32 Replies

Those of you who’re lucky enough to already have a glorious N9 have undoubtedly heard of the upcoming update to PR1.1 which should bring a boatload of of updates including updated swipe functionality, improved boot speed, Chinese language support…. Although this update hasn’t been released yet; but there have been some N9s (black 64GB) spotted running a chinese variant of PR1.2 (AKA:V 30.2.). It could be the same as PR1.1 only for Chinese versions because it was considered as a separate update than the global version, but most likely it’s a different version.

Anyone have either updates 1.1 or 1.2 pushed out yet? let us know.

    Nope , No updates yet.
P.S don’t worry if the update becomes available it’s most likely to show up just like an Email push notification so there’s a slight chance you wouldn’t notice it .

    Hey be specific please
This is Simplified Chinese, different from Simplified Chinese

  6. Tired of cry-babies says:

WTF, what is the problem with people when it comes to updates? Anna was released just a couple of months ago, at most. And already people are complaining they haven’t got Belle update for a phone the bought with Symbian3, an update NOBODY has promised to start rolling out yet. Now Nokia has promised PR1.1 BEFORE 2012. It’s the beginning of November and people are whining. I got an upgrade for my ancient 5800 last week. I’m very happy and surprised they even care about a phone that in many ways is in the end of it’s cycle. The same applies to Android, if you want a friggin ICS Android, BUY ONE and stop complaining. If you want a Belle phone, you can BUY A 701.

    • Anjanu Sonkar says:

you mean people who own N8 or E7 should should upgrade (downgrade actually) to Nokia 701 to get bell…I bet you own C7

      • Tired of cry-babies says:

I bet I own a N8 and a N9. How much are you betting? And you’re missing the point. Belle is neither announced for N8, nor was it ever promised. So I regard Belle as a gift I might receive one day. Anna gave me a much faster and better phone than I actually bought. I am happy. I want the upgrade as much as anyone, BUT I want it when it’s ready. And I’m greatful they keep making a great smartphone better. PR1.1 for N9 isn’t announced either, I am looking forward to the upgrade, BUT as long as it is not New Years Day 2012, I don’t complain. Neither should you.

What you fail to differentiate is the meaning of announced and available. The Belle update has been available for a while, and stable (given the release seen at Nokia World with N8′s running Belle. Just because they haven’t announced it doesn’t mean it’s not available, ready for release in their repos somewhere. Fact is they *could* announce it, but they choose to hold back (perhaps for good reason). This is why some users are becoming frustrated, because they have no visibility of the reasons behind holding back a Belle release or other delays. In the eyes of the populous Belle seems “ready to go”.

By the time Nokia do release it, they will again be behind the times…. typical slow moving dinosaur. Sad really…

I work in software development, and I’ve seen these painfully slow rollout cycles from large companies. However in large companies shorter dev cycles *can* be achieved by internal re-organisation & utilisation of agile, test driven methodologies and achieve faster and more accurate release timeframes.

There’s a limit to how long a “coming soon” label can test peoples tolerance. Is soon “1 week, month, half year?”.

“Managing expectations” is something Apple do very very well.

          Sigh. (from a N8 and N9 owner)

          • dymaxion says:

Naturally once it’s available in the repos somewhere people wan’t it pushed out and deployed unless they are given good reason otherwise!

I live in China, ordered my N9 from Expansys, and it came from Hong Kong. On the product information page on mine it says, “Nokia N9 – Meego 1.2 Harmattan,” then on the next line it says, “Version – 10.2011.34-1_PR_005.”

  10. pasi volmari says:

I live in China as well and Nokia official stores don’t have N9 available yet.
Meaning they have taken the bookings but the phones are not arrived yet.
Latest information I got from official Nokia shop was that they might get first delivery on 20th November 2011. So still waiting mine. Hopefully it comes with updated sw already. I don’t see other reason for delay.
