Windows Phone Market Place encryption – crack down on unofficial Nokia Maps/Nokia Music?

With posts showing Nokia Maps and more recently Nokia Music on non Nokia devices, Microsoft are apparently going to prevent app piracy with new encryption.

Firstly, hacks. If you have to hack something to get it to do something that is standard in another phone, most people won’t bother. Really.

Of the majority of consumers, who’s going to even be aware of Chevron Unlocker? It’s the equivalent of Jail Breaking, though official, what proportion of users are going to a) know about it b) bother?

Anywhoo, from ArsTechnica via WPCentral,  there’s supposedly going to be encryption to prevent sideloading of illegally downloaded XAPs from Microsoft’s servers. I’m sure Eldar tweeted yesterday that Microsoft weren’t going to do anything at all regarding helping Nokia with security. I can’t scroll down any further though that the last few tweets :S.

Cheers Hypnopottamus for the tip!
