Video: Windows 8 Tablets supporting Swipe Gestures

It’s said that imitation is the highest form of flattery, in this case N9 developers (and WebOS developers to some extent) should feel extremely proud. Below is a video uploaded by our favorite long time Nokia fan Cambo showing windows 8 running on a tablet (not sure which, they all look so similar). What swipe effects there seems to be:

  • Swiping from left to right will switch to the next running task (similar to Alt + Tab on windows)
  • Swiping halfway-down from the top of the screen will open up a multitasking pane to switch apps.
  • Swiping all the way down from the top of the screen will close the running app.

The only other systems I’ve seen who actually use any sort of swiping gestures are WebOS (swipe up to get menu/close apps during multitasking) and of course Meego on the N9.

Is this possibly a result of the Nokia-Microsoft relationship? As it was promised to be a two-way street, or is it just something they cooked up themselves? Hopefully we’ll see something like this come to Nokia WPs in Tango or Apollo, what do you think?
