Video: Nokia Purity HD by Monster : Unboxing

| December 27, 2011 | Comments (15)

We had some unboxing of the Nokia purity earphones, now let’s take a look at those headphones. Same Monster branded line by Nokia trying to match Nokia colourful phones and also in a way, take on those very popular fashion accessories (not not really for audiophiles, they’re just there as a lifestyle thing) Beats by Dr Dre (they’re pretty good, though you’re really paying for the brand and to be part of that crowd, kinda like the iThing of audio accessories).

This unboxing is by Camb078, who is now on Nokia-Touch.fr.  I’d like to get my hands on a pair of these. I think I might go for the white or blue one. The black just disappears into my hair. If I want that, I’d get in ears. I only briefly used one of these at Nokia World and then later when I picked up my batman phone. They actually sounded quite alright. I much prefer the design of these to the more serious BH-905s.

over the ear headset is not my thing, who want to carry that big headset ?

    • h3csc says:

They want to make sure everyone is able to notice how much money they spend on their earphone. Same reason as those idiot who take photo in public with their iPad.

    • akse says:

Maybe during a long flight that should be more confortable.. Also if there is any noise cancellation.. it will rock in noisy places like airplane :)

    • jcar302 says:

While they would not be good for jogging, they probably will work well for flying, mowing the lawn or any task that in-ear headphones are just too quiet for.

I don’t think it has anything to do with money or showing off your stuff, no question on ear headphones are better than in ear.

    • Jay Montano says:

They have their purpose hence why there’s a huge market for them :)

      1) Some people don’t like in ears
      2) Some people don’t like eearphones
      3) headphones generally more durable
      4) they don’t get lost as easily
      5) different sound experience
      6) can leave them around your neck when not in use
      7) easily tell others that you are using headphones and perhaps don’t want to be disturbed or reverse, allow people to know you’re not snubbing them and can’t hear them
      8) Scorpion from mortal kombar recommends to “get over ‘ear” :p
      9) Fashion item. It becomes part of people’s outfits now :S

lol, many reasons for over ear headphones.

      Cons:

      - not discrete
      - difficult to use lying down
      - difficult to use when running
      - hard to carry
      - too obvious (some people don’t want others to know they’re using earphones
      - often poorer sound isolation
      - requires louder volume
      - can cause ear pain (compression/overheating…though in ears may also do this to an extent)
      - sound leak can be very annoying to people around you and generally worse that ear/in ear.

Nokia BH-905i >>rapes>> Nokia Purity. No pun intended.

  4. Banderpop says:

Still not a Nokia Essence :(

  5. stylinred says:

“also in a way, take on those very popular fashion accessories Beats by Dr Dre”

not certain if this is known but

these monster purity’s are beats by dr dre (beats headphones are just monster headphones with different branding)

  6. Rusev says:

Beats by Dre are not good at all. No true audio listener could stand them. They just can’t present more sophisticated music. There are many real brands – Sennheiser, Grado, AKG, Sure, Denon, Beyerdynamic etc All in different league. Monster are just an image and that’s all.

  7. jcar302 says:

What concerns me most about these is the price.
UK preorder pricing seems to be about 175, not sure of the conversion rate, but i’d expect these to be well over $200 here in the US, not really acceptable.
