Lumia Tip: Find My Phone

| January 17, 2012 | 14 Replies

I came across this by complete accident. Apologies if this has been shown. When you turn on the Lumia, you are asked to create a Live account, in order to access Skydrive and Marketplace, along with other services. Just now, I was fiddling with Windows Live in order to configure some push services with my mac, and noticed a “Devices” section.

In this section, the Lumia 800 I trialled, was featured on this list. Clicking it, opens up the following page:

https://www.windowsphone.com/en-AU/my

Here you can click the “Find My Phone” button, which will bring up a map of the world, and will search for your phone. You can choose to ring the phone, handy if you misplace it, lock the phone, handy if you left it at your mate’s house that you don’t trust, and erase, useful for when lose your phone.

If I access through http://www.mynokiablog.com I will see a very outdated page. The only correct way to visit My Nokia Blog is through mynokiablog.com. Is caching system wrongly configured for domain http://www.mynokiablog.com? Some visitors might think that MNB stopped updating.

Im not having any problems here, but yesterday they may have been off for a while. I use the mynokiablog app, the mynokiablog rss feed that pushes all new articles on my n9 to notification page and I made a icon for mynokiablog along with my favorites on web search.

      addicting isnt it.

It seems that the problem is still there. But the page at http://www.mynokiablog.com is not so outdated. The latest news there was “#N9Hacks: Change Font (Terminal)” when I wrote the comment, but the latest news now is “Lumia Tip: Find My Phone” (this one). Obviously there is more news for now but at the time when you wrote the comment, you might saw no errors since both websites are identical coincidentally.

I too am having this same problem. Only after clicking the “My Nokia Blog”, I get the updated articles. Noticed it in the morning but thought it to be an issue with my browser.

Thanks for letting us know yesterday. We looked into it. That is why this post was the latest one. There is some delayed caching going on, and we are resolving it. Think it may be sorted now
