Nokia Lumia 900 confirmed for UK! Coming in June to Carphone Warehouse.
Whilst the Nokia Lumia 900 has no dates of availability in the US or even availability notice outside of AT&t, the largest mobile retailer in Europe, Carphone Warehouse has put the Lumia 900 as coming soon, June 2012.
It doesn’t say anything about LTE, not that we have the infrastructure in the UK anyway.

Now if AT&T have that rumoured 45 day exclusive, does that mean for everyone? It could mean that at the latest, the 900 will appear in April, unless we see coming soon dates earlier for other retailers.

After seeing what is currently going on with RIM, where they are about dead and even the new CEO doesn’t seem to inspire anyone, I am happy Nokia is moving forward.
WP might not have been some people’s first choice, but when I put the crackberry site next to this one, I realise Nokia is the lucky one.
The sad thing, actually, is that we’re even comparing Nokia to RIM today and seek comfort they are not failing as fast as RIM is (actually, they are, but they are far bigger so they can more easily cope with it than RIM)… Backtrack to 2006 and try to compare Nokia and RIM on any level, and people would laugh at you… Today we’re just happy that Nokia is a couple of inches less deep in the doodoo than the RIM…
That’s the real tragedy of the whole story…
JUNE?!!!! ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME??!!!! JUNE???!!!!! That’s bloomin’ 6 months away for goodness sake!
WTH are they thinking
They just released the 800, seems like a good time to me. It will be long enough 800 users won’t regret and soon enough new users will wait.
It’s 3 months after the U.S. launch, what did you expect, next week?
i LOLed on this one.
anyway, lumia 800 has now a successor, whilst n9 remains a class in its own XD
Freaking Numpty’s!
My thought process was the same as your buddy.
Ergh..
should be out by end of February ideally!
By that time more phones from the competition will be taking Nokia up the back alley!
=@
too little too late?
Do you guys follow Nokia at all before you rage. AT&T is the exclusive distributer of the 900 and they have a deal that no one can release the 900 for a few weeks after they get the first batch.
They get the phone for MARCH.
You are asking the to get the phone in february……….
In that case they should give us in UK more incentives to get 710 or 800.
Price drop!
What are you talking about, the 710 isn’t even out yet.
That’s because operators aren’t exactly thrilled about Lumia line.
http://www.reghardware.com/2012/01/23/networks_nag_nokia_to_lower_lumia_levy/
“Nokia’s upcoming Windows Phone handset, the Lumia 710, has been deemed too expensive by UK networks. And they have pressured the Finnish outfit to lower prices in order to compete more effectively with rival low-end smartphones.
While the Lumia 710 is more powerful than most budget handsets in question, sales of the Lumia 800 allegedly failed to meet network expectations, leaving carriers sceptical over just how popular the new model will be.”
Yeah. The Lumia is up against it in the UK which is the most Americanised of the European markets. It’s going against the iPhone 4S (Uk phone of choice) and the SGS II so that’s a big ask and I’m surprised the carriers thought it would do as well as they thought it might.
Should do better in continental Europe though.
Wait a moment, wasn’t one of the reasons for going WP quoted as being a desire to conquer the U.S. market?
And now you are saying that U.K. market is “americanized” and it’s no wonder WP doesn’t sell?
What other excuses have you?
Not sure what point you’re trying to make here. Nokia’s challenge in the US is immense, let’s not understate that. The UK is the most Americanised of the European markets so, again, the challenge is huge. In France, Netherlands and other countires this is not the case so it should do better there and that’s where I expect most of the sales to be made.
WP is, however, being used in the US because, pretty much like the UK, Symbian is utterly dead and a laughing stock there. WP will also not ‘conquer’ the US market. Anyone who thinks it will is delusional. However, it should, hopefully, carve out a substantial niche. This will, of course, take time, marketing and good products.
Not sure what part of that wasn’t clear.
You are implying that it is easier to sell WP in countries other than US/UK, while also stating that the challenge is immense.
Yet, THE ONE PHONE THAT HAS BEEN ACCLAIMED BY THE MAJORITY OF U.S. BLOGGERS, THE N9, IS NOT EVEN OFFERED IN THE U.S.
The one phone that Americans seem to be drooling over just as much as over the iPhone, has been proclaimed dead by the company CEO.
The one phone that could shift the U.S. market toward Nokia is not even on the menu.
Do you see how your argument makes no sense?
Here in the US, WP has gotten as much love(if not even more than) as the N9 from the blogosphere.
WP has more traction here in the US than the N9 can even dream of because in the eyes of the American public, the N9 is just another Nokia w/ another in-house OS. This alone turns people off. To suggest that the N9 will “shift the US market toward Nokia” better than WP is just not true. Believe me when I say this. In the US, Nokia has no mindshare whatsoever in the smartphone market. Nokia w/ WP has a much better chance of making a “shift” in the US market than the N9 will ever have. That device is just seen as a novelty item.
@Hypnopottamus
That is a subjective opinion, once again.
So far WP sales show that Americans aren’t interested in a Microsoft offering.
On the other hand, we have no proof that the N9 could not turn the tide – as it was denied the chance to do so.
Any sane businessman would choose a new product over one that has already been tried for 18 months and has been rejected by the market.
Customers should have been given both and the sales would show which one was more popular.
However, that was not to be, because of Elop.
@ Kani
dude…
710 and 800 are both out in the UK !
They have been for a while now.
sorry, 710 is out in February,
but still, the point stands.
We dont get the 900 so give us a price drop.
Thats a US exclusive, nothing to do with other Markets. June is too late, weve all seen what happens when you announce and then drag release, people move on.
Lumia 900 is Lumia 800 with bigger screen + front camera, nothing else.. Another E-flop device
N9 has the front camera + more internal memory 1gb, lumia 900 has only 512mb. N9 has 64gb storage, Lumia 900 has just 16gb. What a flop:-( And you are waiting for this phone?? Go and buy cheaper N9 which works like a dream. Hmm.. Ms lovers will spend their money on MS phone.. If you want degraded N9, so go and wait for Lumia 900. Your choise, think twice:-)
Actually i’m waiting for the N8 Successor =)
rocking my N8 atm,
but my brother wants an 800 so yeah.
Actually, Lumia 900 = Lumia 800 + bigger screen + front facing camera + RGB pixels layout + gyroscope + 4G.
thanks, at least someone knows the phone
Aboodesta: Is Lumia 900 confirmed to have 4g in Europe..? Just rumors at the moment.. And abt the gyroskope thing, N9 has it.. if it means you can control games by moving your phone.. So nothing too special with Lumia 900. We have limited number of 4g:s here., and I think no-one really need those high speeds with mobile phone, I am happy with 1meg 3g here and enough for web browsing, if you download pirate dvd´s using ur mobile phone, maybe you will need 4g/lte.. Normal web surfing with mobile phone is ok in 3g network.. happy with my 1meg connection with Fast browser on my N9. Be happy whatever you gonna buy..
Of which the full RGB matrix is the only noteworthy upgrade, at least for the European market where LTE has not penetrated. Shame it still is the same old resolution…
Also, LTE is not really 4G, but that’s semantics…
I´m waiting for the 900, want the bigger screen.
It appears I´m one of those MS lovers you´r talking about.
Got meself a xbox, got meself a pc, and in june a f***ing wp.
Ben: I too have Microsoft os on my PC (XP professional) and have Xbox too, but dont waste my money on MS & Nokia deal.. Bad choise.. you will see it sooner or later. Some will buy MS Os phones, but never enough to save Nokia.. Other manufaturers are using the same Os too.. so Nokia has no Os of its own, well symbian which is getting better all the time and abandoned Meego, which would have made a difference.. maybe they have to continue with Meego/Tizen in the future cause MS wont save´em..Otherwise someone will buy Nokia someday.
some of you meego fans are just delusional, you really are
if you think Nokia is going to continue with Meego in the near future you are off your bloody rocker
Kani: Its fine with me, no more money to Nokia.. never had any other phone but Nokia.. maybe N9 will be my last original Nokia phone.. gonna buy few spare N9:s for the future too.. Maybe N8 successor with Symbian carla(?) too.. if there will be one someday. I love Nokia as being a Finnish citizen.. but not happy what Nokia has done in last 12 months with eFlop
Go look at RIM and their stocks, it dropped to almost nothing today.
You can hate Elop and WP all you like, but if it wasn’t for Elop, Nokia would be in the same spot as RIM right this day. iOS and Android are ecosystems that move at a ridiculous speed and the only software company that can keep a similar pace was NOT Nokia with meego, but it is MS with WP.
Meego was no ready, it did not have an ecosystem, it does not have the Xbox, Office, business, and software knowledge MS has, not by a long shot.
I don’t care if people don’t like WP, but smell the coffee man, if it wasn’t for Elop changing the company around, Nokia would be a goner, iOS and Android almost killed it overnight, they moved A LOT faster than Meego.
I’m not telling you to get on board with WP, but just think about that for a minute.
Kani: Nokia is a goner with Ms os.. What has been the market share of Ms phones.. Minimal.. and Nokia is now only one of many with the same Os.. i mean, if Nokia dont have a Os of it´s own, they will be no different from the other manufactures using MS OS.. So.. Updated Symbian, Meego with Ms at the same time, could have given them options if MS/Nokia wont succeed.. I am ok with your thoughs.. So Lets hope Nokia will do well with MS, but I think its not the way to go.. If you can afford to buy just one phone, so you have to believe in Ms/nokia.. I could buy them all.. symbians, N9:s,Lumias.. but I have found N9 to be perfect.. Hell with the “ecosystem”.. I have all the apps in my N9 I will ever need already.. Just my 2 cents…
I’ll give you an example why I think WP is going to do ok.
This:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=lm9cOiydk3w
It’s a very popular and great game in Asia for iPhone and the reason it’s coming to WP is because of MS. They have tons of contacts with the big game developers thanks to their Xbox division.
MS also said they are getting the top 20 apps from Android and iOS and they will ALL be on WP, that’s a guarantee they gave, they can do this because they have the contacts as the biggest software developer in the world.
I was the same way as you at first…Microsoft right…sigh…an old software company that doesn’t get it…but their WP devision is great, the people who work there are great, and the new people do “get it”, so I’m really not that worried.
Hi Kani: I have the same kind of jap shooter´s on my Sega Dreamcast.. If you are into games.. go and buy Iphone!!!
You pushing iphone now Jari? With the 900 the xbox experience is so much better. Apple is old and boring. Malware alert!
Jari goes on different nokia websites to trash the nokia windows phone because google and apple are afraid. Very, very afraid.
Loot: No Iphone, never ever.. I am 100% Nokia user.. My n) is my 6th Nokia phone, and unfortunately my last..:-( Maybe will buy Symbian Carla/donna based Nokia phone and spare N9, but no WP shit here.. See what people have said abt Lumia 800 and many bugs in it on Nokia Discussion page, not vy convincing comments on Lumia 800: http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/t5/Nokia-with-Windows-Phone/bd-p/Nokia_with_Windows_Phone Nokias marked share went down minus 7 % today.. And, allthough I am hoping for the best to Nokia.. Ms is not the way to go
What advantage does the N9 has over the Lumia 800 with have more memory?
only an idiot would compare hardware specs between different OSs
The screen on the 900 is much better than on the N9 since it’s an RGB matrix, instead of pentile.
the concept is, ” the whole is bigger than its parts” seems to work well for iPhone when it wasnt dual core
N8/N9 successor is more interesting and has more buzz!
not by a long shot
Symgo: waiting for N8 successor here, will never touch MS Os.. Maybe, if it will come out someday, it will be on Symbian Carla.. Lets see, surely will buy Genuine Nokia phone agn…:-)
Jari: I’m looking forward to Symbian Carla (might have Swipe UI!) and/or the Nokia N9 successor!
Windows Phone Tiles UI sucks!
Symgo: The same here! Will buy spare N9 if N10 will never be out.. But certainly waiting “the camera phone” n8 successor, just some rumors about it.. Lets wait:-)) I am a True Nokia fan.. N9 is my 6th Nokia phone, hopefully not last last….Still love my N95 8Gb, great phone!
Carla does not have swipe UI. It’s improved Belle what comes to UI. better effects etc.
Donna well that might be different story but I think Symbian will remain with android style UI until to last unit Nokia is going to make.
if you want swype UI it is only going to be in meltemi and never a high end phone as long as Nokia is under Microsoft.
N9 might be only swipeUI high end phone Nokia is ever going to make.
Apple will take Swipe UI to next level before Nokia.
That sucks!
I hope Marko Ahtisaari replaces Stephen Elop as CEO soon or we won’t see high end Symbian/MeeGo/Swipe in the future!
If they’re only using Windows Phone (kill Symbian/Meego) in the future, I’m going to Android.
While Elop has proven to be catastrophically incompetent, what would qualify Marko Ahtisaari for a CEO? Leading a design team, and leading a company are two very, very different things.
After OPK and Elop Nokia really needs a competent CEO, provided they survive another switch, that is able to execute and actually listen to the market. I don’t think Ahtisaari would be a good choice for such a position.
True But not worse than the typical engineer or the usual MBA. Guy….Marko at least seams like he gets what people want and what makes them dream. He seams capable of Making truly desirable products.
If he’s to take a bigger managerial position, I think he’d be more fit for a CTO than a CEO. The CEO has to be from the world of business that has proven itself in the mobile industry, and then that CEO has to rely on guys like Marko for the vision and technological steering. That’s how a good tech company is run.
If I was in place of Nokia’s board, I’d try to snatch some of the upper-management guys of some successful mobile carrier for a CEO.
A carrier guy? Only if he swears to the BOD that he will undermine any effort of the carriers in crippling the ecosystems and software at cost of the end user while retaining good relations for sales…
Hey incognito,
Nokia could provide Marko with some advisers.
I doubt Elopolypse is making decisions on his own.
Marko sounds really genuine in his speeches.
Elop talks a lot in his speeches but gives very little information/detail! Like a dodgy used car dealer, LOL!
While we’re at it, I reckon Nokia should hire Steve Litchfield. I think he loves Nokia more than his wife! Loving Nokia more than his wife means that Nokia won’t become like RIM/Blackberry, LOL!
Well, if history has thought us something is that Nokia invents brilliant concepts, then throws them on the backburner and wait until the competition take those concepts, polish them a bit and then use them as a weapon against Nokia itself.
Happened so many times in the past 10 years…
They should merge Symbian with MeeGo, and keep the Symbian branding, as MeeGo is more damaged in terms of bad-mouthing created by the Trojan Horse-EO!
Combine the best parts of Symbian and Meego and call it “SymGo”!
Nokia Symgo can then co-exist with Nokia Windows Phone (for Windows Paid Posters/Users).
Sorry, unless Carla is a lot better than Belle then it just isn’t going to cut it.
Carla might have Swipe UI and faster single core processor.
What’s wrong with Belle?
It’s inferior to the top Android widget based UIs which is what it’s competing against.
That is only your subjective opinion.
Symbian Belle is also a widget-based UI.
A lot of professionals in the field seem to think Belle is on par. Who am I to believe?
As a point in case, I own a Nokia 700 and a SGS2. I personally prefer Belle over Gingerbread and ICS.
Belle has been running circles around Android since day one. It just needs to get in wider publication, tbh.
it makes no sense if at&t got exclusivity worldwide… when they’re only based in the US… unless Nokia just doesn’t have enough stock to supply more markets so they’re dumping all they have into the USA
Yes it doesn’t but that’s just the way it is.
The Samsung Focus for example is also a GREAT WP7 phone praised as the first hero WP7 phone but is exclusive to AT&T and wasn’t available anywhere else in the world, it was so good many people went to a lot of trouble to import the phone, boggles the mind how AT&T got the exclusive but that’s what happened. I hate how companies bend over backwards for the US market but then I also understand the fact that the US is THE single largest market in the world right now, can’t fight the numbers, sad as it is.
chinas larger (it got the #1 spot recently)
June is a bit late. Nokia should have several much better devices out until then, in order to have a real chance
Patana: wll said.. Nokia is too late with burning MS platform.. too late, too little.. and with outdated specs with MS line…
I have a N9 and will be buying the 900, its a better phone for my business use. While I enjoy the N9 the lumia app selection and future growth with Microsoft products is enough for me to add the 900. The N9 will show up in future products and will be a great platform to try out new app concepts before going to mainstream windows marketplace. This tie up has the competion worried. If anyone wants to make money in any country take a look at wired.com and the google ad income article. Start an ad agency and pick at parts of Google’s ad income stream showing the ad buyer better results doing something different.
Hi Noot! Nice you have the N9 too.. if Ms phones suits better for your business, its good to have one.. We all should be happy to have what we like and use in our normal life.. Well, to call some-one is the main thing.. not All the apps.. I wonder where are you from..?
Im sitting two booths down from you. Do you guys think posting negative posts on windows while claiming to own Symbian or n9 will work to stop sales of the lumia? Jari, Im older than you, Ive heard all the cons in my life already.
The exclusivity of the Nokia Lumia 900 might only apply to U.S. territories for a limited period of time. For instance, the Nokia N75 was made for AT&T, but was released outside the country. Same with the Nokia Surge.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Symbian/MeeGo last longer than Windows Phone! 1 to 2 percent market share!
Maybe Windows Phone is the “burning platform”! LOL!
it will take until 2013 for win phone to catch up maybe appolo and tango can save it.but they should have kept symbian for low end phones
WP just isn’t cutting at the moment,
AS A POWER USER WP serves u[ a shit load of restrictions as to what i can do with it.
Best bets on Carla/Donna for my kind of user right now,
If WP doesn’t offer the freedom for creative productivity i may just find myself hoping on over to Android =(
Now no one reading this will want a Nokia fan jumping to Android, including me.
But i’m S-I-C-K of the low spec phones from Nokia!
damn it… dilema.
Well we’ll wait and see, if N8 successor is Da-Boom i’ll gladly upgrade, if not..well..
then maybe Nokia no more, atleast until they win be back again.
BTW, am i only one waiting for the N8 successor who wants a better camera yes, but is also TERRIBLY DREDING that Nokia is gonna strip it of features such as HDMI out and fm transmitter?
If they do, F*CK ‘EM!
RANTAGE!
Fully agree… But the last specs I heard from the N8 successor will dissappoint you and me:
RM-807
NFC
HDMI
DLNA
1 GHz Processor
3,5″ WVGA ClearBlack Display & Gorilla Glass
512 MB RAM
Improved Optical Zoom
Plenty enough if it has Carla inside. Hasn’t Symbian thus far taught people nothing?
Hey, if you ask me about how less powerhungry Symbian is and how well optimized its Kernel is, I’m the last to argue against it!
I just want it to be fit for heavy calculations and gaming aswell. Especially for productivity solutions around imaging which up until now always are restricted by RAM and GPURAM as well es horse power…
I’d be especially disappointed if it’s 3,5″ and still 640×360. Not for me…
What a joke, customers of the 800 won’t be impressed of how close these dates are. I know for one I’m not happy. I could understand if it was a different model class. Helps if they fix the 800 bugs before rushing into another model.madness ….
Well Nokia Lumia 800 is full of bugs: Nokia Lukia fault list is extended.. users are complaining: http://www.mikropc.net/kaikki_uutiset/nokia+lumian+vikalista+pitenee++kayttajat+valittavat/a762245 This is a Finnish site MicroPC.. use google traslate to know what being told in this article.. also in Nokia Forums they are complaining abt major bugs in Lumia 800.. See here(in English) : http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/t5/Nokia-with-Windows-Phone/bd-p/Nokia_with_Windows_Phone I think Eflop has done his work at Nokia.. Ms phones wont work & sell in significant numbers to save Nokia.. Meego+ one Eflop phone a year.. + improved cheap symbian Belle(Carla,Donna) based phoness wd do better than Nokia+Ms=Eflop Your choise if you want to go down with MS phones.
Shh, you are being crue to the WP fanboys.
Don’t give them links to factual articles.
Their impotent rage will swell to immense proportions and they will get a collective apoplexy.
You don’t want to be responsible for causing them health problems, I’m sure!
Your facetiousness knows no boundaries
Also it amazes me that you dislike people with similar opinion to you being called trolls yet will happily scream down people as fanboys. Regardless of the definitions, it’s derogatory on both sides and is unnecessary.
The problems, if any, Nokia seem to have introduced in batches. Not all Lumia is affected like that and certainly not all WP (wp core not 3rd party app problem).
Show me one phone that has zero problems, and also if you wish, compare which platform Nokia’s using that has most bug free. Perhaps I’ve just been lucky with having really stable devices. I am aware of certain batches of Lumias handed out to bloggers from NokiaConnects that have certain repeated issues that’s not present in retail. It’s odd and quite disturbing.
http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/t5/Nseries-and-Symbian-Smartphones/bd-p/smartphones
Please Jay. I am only following the rules of conversation seemingly set down by WP supporters here. You accuse me of this and that, yet no comment is made on account of WP fanboys calling me a troll. As I’ve said before, I would like to see you talk so to those on the other side of the rift. I’ve yet to see that..
This was a deliberate jab at people like migo, jr, Mark et al.
I have no beef with the phone itself as I don’t own it and never will. So don’t get up in flames defending your precious
If it’s not coming out in UK then fair enough.
