Video: Nokia Rich Recording Nokia 808 PureView, vs Nokia N8 vs iPhone 4S vs Galaxy S2 (Coming to other Nokias soon!)

Remember the post last week about Nokia Rich Recording?

http://mynokiablog.com/2012/02/28/video-nokia-808-pureview-with-nokia-rich-recording-vs-the-competitors/

Here’s a new video from Nokia explaining what that’s about.

I am glad that Nokia is doing this comparison to show exactly just how good their devices are – here in audio recording. The thing is Nokia’s have ALWAYS been the most superior in audio recording, with the likes of the Nokia N93 from 2006 already recording in stereo sound.

When I was listening I was like…hmmm, not bad ….erm…kinda lacking in depth…then when Nokia Rich Recording comes on..

Holy freakin Shishkamabob!

Soon Nokia Rich Recording will find its way to Nokia’s other smartphone portfolio. MMMMM. Listening to lectures recorded on my Nokias are absolutely stellar. The time when I had N93, N95, N82, N86, N8, N900 total wowsers, the audio compared to the competition was on another league. Just on another league. This Nokia Rich Recording is on another dimension.

Listen to this video only if you have decent speakers or decent headphones. Listening through tinny laptop speakers will prevent you from appreciating Nokia Rich Recording.

Device A was ok… could live with that.
Device B was pretty awful… if i were a movie guy, i’d be pissed.
Rich Recording Device was just amazing. I am pretty curious how it will perform on a concert.

    Nice video!!!

  3. Arthur says:

Having recorded 720p video on my N8 before, I was very happy with the audio when connected to my TV via HDMI. Never recorded video on my N9 and now im curious if it sounds any better then the N8 but the 808 will be that much better. I can’t wait.

Did you get your update to your N9 yet? I’m still waiting and was wondering if they added to audio recording. I see you can share on your t.v. by wireless now with the update. nokia conversations has an article that says most are getting their update now…except in the u.s. must be. That’s ok.

  4. twig says:

Just the audio recording is worth the price of the phone. This is smokin!!!

@ 2:27 The call-end button (red) was on while recording video, how cool is that

  7. Edmund says:

if only n9 had nokia rich recording.. :(

The recorder pro app on n9 is already v good but nothing like this!! hope the n9 microphone is really under utilised.. maybe increase sampling rate or smth via software update

  8. Edmund says:

jay, let’s wait for what engadget has to say again.. hmmm maybe they’ll say that you can add an external microphone via the dock connector to the iphone hah. i know there is the Blue microphone for iPhone but Pureview pretty much solves that.. :P

  9. rafaelinux says:

In the comparison of the 808 against the iPhone the audio sucks on the 808. Prototype, I hope, even my N82 does better than that.

I bet alot of people will say for what do I need this, if I want to make videos I buy a camcorder or dslr..
for what should I buy then an Iphone if I want to play games I get an ps3 xD

can’t wait till the 808 is aviable in switzerland :D

i use iphone4s and n8.i compare two device and honestly i say n8 audio quality much better then iphone.cheak dolby site only 4 phone have dolby……and then comeout with nokia 808….http://www.dolby.com/us/en/consumer/product/mobile/nokia-n8.html

    • Minttu Black says:

If you read what that site says it is not 4, but over 120 phones.
“Dolby Mobile can be found in more than 120 devices worldwide from 15 manufacturers, including Nokia, LG, HTC, Acer, and Fujitsu. Here are a few highlights.”

Nevertheless, I really am a big fan of Nokia Rich Recording and improved audio quality in phones! Can’t wait to get my hands on the 808 and test it in some gigs or festivals!

  12. Stound says:

U can see the power of rich recording on the 4th video, 808 FTW

  13. Edmund says:

The more i listen to Nokia Rich Recording samples, the more jawdropping I find them.. Nokia’s new benchmark would be stereo recording quality on zoom audio recorders and the like hah.. =D

hah how about a studio original for comparison..

  14. zymesh says:

in some places, bringing a dedicated DLSR or Cam Corder is not allowed. Example, concerts, theatres and clubs. So having this on hand you can vid the DJ spinning and still get the right audio with it. Or even video a song in a concert with no problems.

  15. Allan says:

Really great to see AND hear, great work. Finally someone puts a focus on this much under hyped area. Next up: call quality and/or antenna design? Data transmission speeds? Battery life?

  16. H0r5t Gu3nth3r says:

Hi Jay! Please give us the resolution! What is Device A and what is Device B? And What is the N8 =o)
