Mobile payments by NFC is starting in Brazil. Nokia have apparently teamed up with PagSeguro to bring NFC payment. Antonio said:

INdT (Nokia Institute of Technology) Brazil and PagSeguro (payments firm like Visa, MasterCard etc) have firmed a deal for NFC payments in Brazil.

All Symbian and MeeGo devices are supported for mobile payments using NFC. You can make your NFC payments and pay them on your credit card, PagSeguro or many other accounts

NFC is one of the newer features that whilst not yet wildly adopted, could really be a benefit to a lot of people – it’s something that can be used realistically on a daily basis, but if only that user’s environment is prepared to have NFC (e.g. NFC taxi ordering, NFC contacts transfer, NFC payments, NFC game unlock, NFC coupons, NFC bluetooth pairing, NFC tickets – all things that with NFC could be much simpler for the user)

Thanks Antonio and Diogo for the heads up
