N9Apps: Facelock demoed on the Nokia N9
Here is a demo of the Face Unlock app, Facelock for Nokia N9. This isn’t new to Nokias – at least 2 Nokia Worlds ago I remember this app winning the dev contest for this idea and implementation.
I’m not sure how this will work with pictures, if like ICS on Android it might be fooled with a photo.
You have to swipe away the N9 lock screen first and then this facelock screen appears. The Android version has the face unlocker bit as soon as you press the lock screen which is good but then it obscures the information that you might want to read just by pressing the lock button (and not necessarily wanting to unlock the phone).

When will it be available for download?
It’s already available at Store, Qt Facelock
Nevermind found it… Works nicely
not useful,
Probably fun, but I agree, it’s not that useful. If a photo of yourself is able to bypass this system, then it is just useless. Might as well rely on the old keypad lock instead. :p
….. WHY , Do i really have to change my hair style to recognize me , cause i use different hair style when i go out and it dosnt recognize me .
It’s good but it consume some energy.
Another interesting article at cnet UK

Nice quote
“He lost his talent and he’s bringing junior people out of Microsoft into key roles and positions, especially in sales,” says Williams “Inventory in a company for anybody but the CFO is talent. For the CFO it’s not talent, it’s assets, IP, offices — so again Elop’s acting like a CFO.”
How is this related to facelock?
Also this is already discussed in depth here:

Right on dude, I forgot about that discussion.
i guess this is better than the Symbian version..
This kinda app doesn’t excite me all that much.
But I’ll give it a go, thanks…
I tried this at work and it worked perfectly, but when I got to home it was quite a trouble to get it recognize me. I think it’s because there is more light at work than at my home so ffc can’t scan me so well, it’s a pity they didn’t give n9 better ffc.
Also I must hold phone in same angle as I took the picture.. This could be improved by taking many pics for better/faster recognition but I doubt they will update this app.
Some people say in store reviews that their friends could unlock their phones, has somebody tried this? I really hoped I could use this as my only security setting but seems like I won’t.
