A while back we posted about a new upcoming Nokia entertainment service called Nokia TV, well know the app is officially available to download on all Lumia devices (people outside Finland are also reportedly able to download the app). So go ahead and check it out.

  1. Omar BHR says:

i hope this will be available on other contrys and phones like symbian and meego

    • Just Visiting says:

Isn’t this somewhat similar to the Web TV app Nokia offers on the N8? Sure, Nokia TV is more robust, not to mention it having a more attractive UI, but Web TV is available as well as SPB TV in the Nokia Store.

  2. Beelzebozo says:

Nokia (Elop) again pissing on vast majority of its customers by releasing this on WP only.

    Fuck you Elop!

    • karam says:

dude seriously get over it. im not a Lumia guy myself and tv on your phone is useless. I remember watching broadcasts on my N82 and it was bad for my eyes and for battery. want to watch tv? watch it on real tv. want to play a game? play it for real or on a decent pc. want to read a book? get yourself a book. there is a good way to do something and there is a lame way just because you can

      • zlutor says:

you could stream it to any DLNA capable other devices from your mobile (e.g. N9)…

E.g. looking your favorite channels on a hotel TV set?

    • Zipa says:

      Waah waah waah!

Want some cheese with that whine?

    • Pdexter says:

      Cry me a river! :D

      Btw, amazing app. ;)

    • hengn says:

you really can’t understand why this is not available for other platforms? it’s because they aren’t able to support these new, working wonders. And if it could be done, it would take a huge amount of time for many workers, and it would cost huge amounts of money. And in the end you would just end up with another application that just does not cut it, because it’s for symbian. Regardless of peoples opinions of WP, the OS just works. And really that is the most valuable thing in it.

      • noki says:

are you for real? have you seen that app. its completly trivial to do that, the real work is in the provider part servers n stuf… ignorance is bliss

        • Dave says:

I always love people who claim software is trivial.

Well noki the app uses public APIs from Finnish providers (that’s why the channel selection is limited, these are the same channels you can stream from their websites), so download the Nokia Qt SDK and write a version for Symbian and the N9. It’s trivial, right.

          • James says:

You should be criticizing the post he’s responding to too.
Quite a few long bows being drawn there…
He’s wrong in asserting it’s much harder to dev the same kind of app for Maemo6x.
Or even S^3 (to some extent) now….

        • hengn says:

Anything is trivial with symbian, right? That’s why symbian is the best platform to write on. That’s why Symbian is the most fast, reliable, and innovative OS. That’s why Nokia is still the market leader and will be in the future.

I love when things are trivial.

    • Janne says:

      Point, meet Made.

    • JP says:

Hope to see you in Finland – Salo St. Elop. You are the fucking master of most pathetic lip service in the world. You’re only assignement has been to downsize Nokia and merger the valuable parts with Microsoft. Want me to expose the name of the comanpy you will get payed in 6 months? One hint, the first letter is M, and that does not only mean (disgusting) mole! You are a fundamental disgrace even for Canucks.

  3. Hekko says:

Nokia TV, lol, that’s just a streaming service.

    • HappyN9User says:

Yes, it’s just a streaming service and I don’t know exactly what is in there. If they’ve got the content of ruutu.fi and katsomo.fi, it’s great for my use because I use those two A LOT more than I actually watch TV.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a WP. I’ll probably get one when there is a Lumia PureView.

      • Pdexter says:

It has Ruutu and Katsomo. Plus Yle Areena, URHOtv.

So plenty of apps. Sure it’s “just” a streaming service, but especially Yle Areena (Finnish equivalent to BBC iPlayer), Katsomo and Ruutu’s services on web are amazing so it’s great to have them all on a one app.

Thinking how great many of the Nokia apps look, i do wish they could make the UI nicer. It works damn smooth and is easy to use, it could just be nicer looking.

    • Viipottaja says:

Yeah, LOL, I was expecting Nokia to start producing their own TV… ;-) they certainly would have enough material for a few soap operas, if not international spy and sobotages thrillers.

  4. Rebbe says:

    You can watch:
    -the voice
    -URHOtv
    -Ruutu
    -Katsomo
    -Yle Areena

Works great and when you search in the app it searches across all services.

  5. JGrove303 says:

Sounds handy. like the internet radio app for Symbian

    • Dave says:

Or TuneIn on WP ? HIGHLY recommended.

Similar to internet radio on Symbian but better looking, and can pin favourite channels to start screen. Symbian widget only shows last channel which is annoying if you have 2-3 you like.

  6. ff says:

cutetube is everthing to me. it can stream my favourite latested unlisted asians tv show or dramas and cost me nothing! who need nokia tv?

    • arts says:

      Plus one. Love cutetube.

I can’t believe Nokia shipped the symbians without a decent YouTube client.its really sad.

      • twig says:

I think Google restricts that. I use Supertube which had to change their name because Google made them, for my Nokia 900. Youtube downloader for symbian. I see Iran is going to file suit against Google.

  7. Samuel says:

It is a nice app, hopefully it will be some descent programs to watch on it in the future.

  8. allu says:

Great new app for lumia but still I cant upload it to my lumia 800,error shows:I must update my phone (it is already updadet to latest)or my operator dont support this (it shouldnt matter)……..great……
