N9Apps: Tweetian (QT Twitter Client) – Also avail. for Symbian

| June 9, 2012 | 24 Replies

Tweetian is a new Twitter client, written in QT, available for the N9/N950 (and also Symbian devices).

It was originally written in QT for Symbian, and over the last week, the dev has ported it to MeeGo-Harmattan. I was lucky enough to be the first to try out the client, and I must admit, it is amongst the best clients out there, both on Symbian and MH.

For MeeGo, the only limitations (that are known) is that the device can’t currently upload pictures, (403 Forbidden error occurs each time), but the dev knows and is working on a fix. It’s the first release, so if you find any bugs, let the developer know on the TMO thread.

As I said, it is also available for Symbian devices. To download it, simply go to the store link at the bottom of the post. There has been an issue with passing Q&A for Belle devices, but it can be downloaded using Nokia Drop.

Take a look at the gallery below for heaps of screenshots form around the app

    Perfect, this over Qneptunea?

    • trashr0x says:

well firstly, compared to QNeptunea it’s free. still needs some ironing here and there but overall great app

    • Michael Faro-Tusino says:

Personally, I do. Fluidity is the same. It is free (where as QNep is ridiculously highly priced in store). Feature-wise it’s not quite on par, but its close enough for me. Stuff like translating tweets, theme support etc. aren’t needed. Just nice to have

      • mm says:

QNeptunea is free from the dev’s download page. it’s only commercial in the store.

IIRC this is also a placeholder price especially for people who know nothing about TMO etc. I’d read another dev too inform of his intention for his app to be free for people visiting TMO but at a high price in the store.

        • James says:

Yeah I had a lengthy chat with the dev about that…
I don’t get his logic for making it free at Google Code & TMO, but very high @ the Nokia Store.
If I were him I’d remove availability for free (except for beta testers using the apps4meego beta channel) & lower the price in the store heaps.

Great. And at last something usefull and for users, not marketing purposes only. That is why I have choosen N9 as standard for me and my people. And that is also why open community has fo me bigger value then closed one. It gives me big advantages. Thank you for soft and Nokia for N9, great stuff!

  3. Random says:

Can someone convince me to start using Twitter? I still find it irrelevant.

    • Adserr says:

No, can’t. However you could twitt that Twitter is irrelevant.

    • Anf1987 says:

I used to look up info about the latest tech but with with I follow alot of different people and they tweet the info. That’s a good part about twitter.

    • sdfanq says:

You could follow people and stay informed with the latest news, you could see it as an addition to reading RSS feeds.
And it’s nice as a conversation starter; you are more likely to send someone a tweet than an email or a IM.
If you are more interested in observing, look into twitterfall.com (you just insert some search terms and you have the latest tweets containing your search term filling your screen), no accound required.

    • ashok pai says:

it’s a supplement to rss feeds – short description with url shortner. excellent filtered news instead of rss dump. believe me it works very well. a lot of people use it for news!

    the app is so ugly…

    • Shane says:

Stop being a child, srsly, grow-up already.

    • ashok pai says:

it surprisingly looks good on the phone. it’s not as slick as gravity, or even twimgo – but it’s not bad for a start, it’s still in beta remember

      • Shane says:

He only said that because he’s a massive WP-only fanboy now.
Not because he’s the slightest bit interested in other apps for Maemo 6x.
He doesn’t understand the concept of appreciating both platforms.

      • Shane says:

        qneptunia’s slicker for me personally.
        But this has potential…

  5. XtiaN8 says:

I just tried to grab it in the US and it’s unavailable. Ever since Twitter updated their mobile page, I haven’t been using a Twitter

  6. sdfanq says:

Looks very nice indeed, but TwimGo is just as good IMO. That’s what I use on my N900.

  7. Shane says:

    Looking good.

this time I am browsing this website and reading very informative posts at
    this time.

  9. lordstar says:

I was just wondering. If the upcoming Meltemi os will be using qt as the framework for apps, it also means that if I get an N9, then there will still be new apps to be developed for n9 as well? Is that correct?

    • Shane says:

That’s not clear yet, it may not be officially possible…
But there’s a good chance it becomes unofficially possible.
