Video: 17 minutes with Nokia 808 PureView (Italian)

| June 12, 2012 | 27 Replies

A new day a new video with the Nokia 808 PureView.

Brush up on your Italian to fully appreciate this 17 minute demo.

Favoloso.

The browser concerns me a little. Why does the Asha 311 demo of browser look smoother than the one shown here :/.

    Ok, so no frame skipping!!!

  2. RVM says:

Wow, it’s much faster than my N8. Browser still could be better though. I wonder how Opera Mobile (my favourite mobile browser) will run on this HW.

  3. zype says:

what is that red light that appear in the top off the phone when he start the call??? in minute 4:50

    • DrDark says:

@Zype: I’m going to have a guess here and say that’s most likely the proximity sensor to detect when you have the phone up to your ear (in order to turn the screen off). Looks like it’s emitting an infrared light, which would be visible while filmed but not by the naked eye.

    • l33tuc says:

I’m guessing that is the proximity sensor. It’s showing up on the video because it uses infrared, but is invisible to the human eye. Like I said, I’m guessing.

  4. Ammad says:

SHOW ME OPERA ON THAT PHONE!!!

stock browser sucks ballz…choppy as hell
i shouldn’t have to put up with such garbage in a 2012 release phone.

    • core says:

Stock browser is working like a pc browser,it shows the original page.you must compare Opera with s40 nokia browser.

      • Arun says:

That’s stupid. Have you even tried Opera Mobile 12? It’s as good as safari or the android stock browser, infact better because of the data compression and speed even on slow connections like EDGE.

  5. mg says:

the browser on symbian sucks.. It always has, and as it seems, it always will. It needs faster ram and a newer processor.. And gpu acceleration. Never going to happen tho

  6. deep space bar says:

    soo such nice headphones

  7. joemx12 says:

Great!! This symbian version is very smooth, also the browser has an improvement. May be using opera will have better performance, I can say it has nearly the same performance as the galaxy note with opera. I hope Nokia 808 arrives soon to my country, I want a white one unlocked.

  8. I just like the helpful information you provide in your articles. I’ll bookmark your blog and take a look at again here regularly. I’m reasonably certain I will learn lots of new stuff right here! Good luck for the following!

  9. d'fire says:

Some one said nokia 808 as the official phone of the London 2012 Olympic Games. what a great news ….

  10. maxxx says:

    I like symbian
    I used c6-01 running belle.
    faster than anna
    but my c6-01 is missing
so I buy a sam galaxy ace because nokia symbian doesn’t have better browser and better games such as gta

but my next smartphone is nokia 808
because I like nokia symbain os which can do faster streaming than android
    sorry for my english

  11. Jill says:

Except for the browser .. everything was pretty fast.
Hope FP2 brings more optimization through out the OS.

I still feel somehow that Symbian will see development after FP2 & that will come from Nokia and not Accenture.

    • lordstar says:

Well hopefully there’s an fp3. Bug fixes and stability improvement updates would suck if those were the only updates that we would get after belle fp2.

  12. nokia destroys itself says:

does nokia bella have any startdict dictionary apps? Call and sms blocker?

  13. civichief says:

looks like image stabilizing is missing.

  14. Mapantz says:

Much better video! Loving the Italian language too, despite not knowing any, it made me chuckle. :D

  15. Alin says:

Why is Browser a little slow?? Beacuse he opens very havy DESKTOP PAGES, even on my laptop with 4GB of RAM when loading havy pages I can not scroll, let alone the zoom! The mobile pages are much faster!!

    • Jay Montano says:

Erm…on pretty much every new mid/high end mobile you can scroll/pan whilst the pages are loading, even heavy pages. Check N9/800/iPhone/higher end android. It’s just the Symbian default browser. It has improved, yes, but it is still somewhat behind in general responsiveness. It’s still chequerboarding.

      • capitansevilla says:

Well, it seems Java and flash are active, so that´s why it is slow. You can always deactivate one, or both of them and speed improves a lot.
